POSITION TITLE: Clinical Analyst RESPONSIBLE TO: Director Information Systems DATE: September 25, 2014 JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical System Analyst acts as a business liaison to assigned clinical departments and our providers within Western Missouri Medical Center to ensure that Healthcare Information System (HIS) applications function as intended. The Analyst plays a major role in researching and resolving software problems as part of daily operational support. The Analyst is responsible for the overall design, implementation, training, documentation; operation and support of assigned HIS applications, databases, interfaces and reports. They must also be familiar with the server configuration, client installation, data transfer formats and application backup & recovery procedures for these applications. Duties also include the maintenance and advancement of HIS applications; the planning, implementing, testing and training on all HIS applications; and the investigation, resolution and notification of issues escalated through Help Desk tickets. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide technical and detailed support/assistance to customers through the coordination of implementations, the operation and maintenance of clinical applications and associated reporting systems, and software interfaces. Ensure the initiation and timely completion of various projects. Responsible for the overall coordination of project planning in relationship to assigned applications. Assists department Director in analyzing and solving clinical problems through the use of computerization. Develops and monitors detailed action plan with timetable including responsible party and key milestones and establishes clear expectations of deliverables. Identifies variance from target schedules and reports them to the appropriate individuals. Participates in the training of end users to document, store, retrieve and analyze clinical computer-generated information. Helps with the interpretation of information obtained from the hospital information system as well and related external sources. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES CONT: Coordinates the implementation of software enhancements in the context of an integrated, interfaced and interactive hospital information system Attends, participates, and occasionally chairs meetings targeted for problem resolution and/or operational efficiencies through automation and computerization as requested. Provides detailed information and project status updates to staff members on an as needed basis. Provides summary information and project status updates to the IS Director, or others as appropriate on a monthly basis or more frequently as needed. Collaborates with members of the Information Systems Department, and/or software vendors, for the development of non-standard system reports, interfaces and downloads. Coordinates and monitors the implementation of electronic submissions to regulatory agencies, including necessary modifications due to design changes or specification changes. Provide after-hours support for a variety of clinical applications and computer systems when on-call. Records all calls to the help desk in the approved ticket tracking system. Escalates issues when appropriate and collaborates with members of the IS Department and/or vendors to deliver solutions as quickly as possible. Coordinates the implementation of clinical software enhancements in the context of an integrated, interfaced and interactive hospital information system. Establishes conditions necessary to create a collaborative working environment in the department and on project teams through the integration of the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Standards of Behavior on a daily basis. WORKING CONDITIONS: Generally pleasant environment, but may become very stressful during periods of high activity or system malfunctions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Strong verbal, quantitative, and interpersonal skills Strong service orientation, excellent presentation skills and significant experience managing software installation projects, plus demonstrated experience consisting of at least four years of health care information system experience, with strong user interaction. Must have a working knowledge of and experience with clinical, financial, administrative, knowledge based computer systems and department operations and how they interrelate in a health care delivery system. Experience with personal computers, personal computer networks and personal computer software is required Personal transportation for local travel is required. Some out-of-town travel may be required on an occasional basis.
