For admission to the School of Applied Health Sciences and Wellness and the Graduate Program in Exercise Physiology (Research or Clinical), a prospective student must meet the following requirements: 1) Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, or related field from an accredited college or university having a background in some or all the following academic topics: a. chemistry (general, organic and biochemistry) b. physics c. mathematics (geometry, algebra and calculus) d. nutrition (general and sport nutrition) e. biology f. anatomy g. physiology (exercise physiology) h. application courses (e.g. biomechanics, kinesiology, pharmacology, metabolism, EKG, exercise testing and prescription) 2) “Competitive” cumulative grade point average (GPA; e.g. 3.0 on a 4.0 scale) for undergraduate studies. 3) "Satisfactory” Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score (e.g. see page 13, http://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/gre_guide.pdf ). 4) Two-page typed biography that includes information about your background, preparation for graduate education, experience that makes you a good candidate for the Program, and specific details about your future career goals. 5) Resume (or curriculum vitae) of your educational background and professional work experience. 6) Three (3) letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to your qualifications for graduate education and in your chosen field – it is expected that no less than one (1) letter will be from an academic faculty member; the form is located on #7 of the University application page under "Applying for Graduate Admission" -orhttp://www.ohio.edu/graduate/upload/recform3-27-09.pdf. 7) Complete all additional Ohio University requirements: a. application, available at http://www.ohio.edu/graduate/apply.cfm b. pay University application fee. c. submit official GRE scores. d. submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. Typically, applications for consideration of admission, financial aid, and graduate funding for the next academic year should be received by March 1; however, review of application will continue as they arrive. International students also must present TOEFL scores (minimum of written 575, computer 233, and online 79 for consideration) and apply by Feb 1.
