SHS Prom 2015 Information
Junior & Seniors:
The 2015 Junior/Senior Prom will be held on Saturday, April 11th at the Lake Jackson Civic Center.
The theme for the 2015 Prom will be announced in the coming weeks. An evening filled with
entertainment is planned, and a variety of desserts and punch will be served.
The prom will be held 8:00p.m. – 11:00p.m. If you choose to attend, you must arrive no later than
9:00 p.m. and will not be permitted to leave until 11:00 p.m. If you plan to eat dinner in Houston or
other locations, be sure you know how to get from that location to Lake Jackson and the time it will
take. Those arriving late will not be admitted to prom and no refunds will be given.
A professional photographer will NOT be available this year. Be sure to bring your camera to take
advantage of multiple photo opportunities throughout the evening. A representative from SHS
yearbook will be on hand to take pictures for the yearbook.
You will need to sign up and pay for your tickets in Mrs. Hammond’s office from April 1st –
April 8th. Announcements will be made when sign-up begins. The tickets cost $50.00 per couple or
$25.00 for an individual. If your date is not a SHS student and is 20 years old or younger, he or she
will need to be approved by Mr. Brooks in advance. Your date will be required to present a valid
picture driver’s license before they are allowed to enter the prom. Dates 21 years old and older will
not be allowed to attend the prom. No Junior High students will be allowed to attend.
In past years, we have had a few students push the limit of acceptable dress. The Prom is a formal
event, and students should be dressed appropriately. No athletic wear will be allowed including
caps and tennis shoes. No jeans will be allowed. Backless dresses are allowed, but they may not be
cut below the natural waist in the back. The hemline of shorter dresses should fall no more than 3
inches above the knee, and slits in dresses should be no higher than 3 inches above the knee. No
bare midriffs or cutouts that expose the front and/or sides of the midriff will be allowed. Finally,
dresses should not have revealing or plunging necklines. If your date is not a SHS student, you are
responsible for notifying him/her of the dress code. Remember, this is a high school function, so it
is better to err on the side of modesty. It would be regretful to be denied entry to your prom
because of inappropriate attire. If you have any questions or concerns about your attire, please see
Mr. Brooks in advance. BE MODERATE AND REFLECT PRIDE IN BOTH THE PERSON AND
THE SCHOOL.
We hope your Junior/Senior prom will be a memorable event. In most cases, it will be the last time
the seniors gather at a formal event before graduation. Our goal is to provide you with a fun and
safe evening. Therefore, if you are suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs,
you will be tested using an approved testing device. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken
for any student testing positive. Any student refusing to submit to the detection device will be
denied entry and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.
The junior class officers, prom advisors, and SHS administrators hope you will join us for a
wonderful and memorable evening.
Thank you,

Mrs. Bertsch/Mrs. Stroud
