Position: Transportation Drainage Project Engineer
Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a transportation drainage
engineer in our Mokena, Crystal Lake, or Chicago Illinois office. This position will
primarily consist of roadway drainage analysis and design, plan preparation, and
obtaining regulatory permits for a variety of transportation related projects for State,
County, and Local Agencies. A knowledge of IDOT District 1 Hydraulics Section policies
and procedures is required. This team orientated position will include working with
Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices.
POSITION DUTIES:
 Prepare Phase I Location Drainage Studies and Technical Memoranda, and
Hydraulic Reports in accordance with the IDOT policies & procedures.
 Prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates using IDOT standards.
 Obtain permits from regulatory agencies including US Army Corps of
Engineers, IDNR-OWR, IEPA, county stormwater management agencies, and
others.
 Conduct stormwater plan reviews
 Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state
clients
REQUIREMENTS:
 B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
 2-8 years in roadway drainage design experience using IDOT Standards
 CFM is preferred
 Experience with HEC-RAS, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM and other
stormwater modeling software
 Working knowledge of Microstation and Geopak
 Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own
transportation)
 Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities
 Strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills
 Illinois Licensed Professional Engineer or E.I.T. (Engineer in Training) with
anticipated Professional Engineer
