ADM’s Award for Excellence in Resource Stewardship Monitoring FREP mission: To be a world leader in resource stewardship monitoring and effectiveness evaluations; communicating science-based information to enhance the knowledge of resource professionals and inform balanced decision making and continuous improvement of British Columbia’s forest and range practices, policies and legislation. What is this award? The Assistant Deputy Minister’s Award for Excellence in Resource Stewardship Monitoring is an annual award for the FLNRO district demonstrating the highest level of contribution and excellence in resource stewardship monitoring (RSM) associated with the Forest and Range Evaluation Program (FREP). Who is eligible? All districts involved in FREP are eligible to be nominated for the award (with the exception of the winning district from the previous year). This is a Team Award given to the district as a whole, with the staff that performed the majority of the work given special recognition. How do nominations work? Nominations may be submitted from Resource Value Team Leaders (RVTL), Regional Management Teams (RMT) or District Management Teams (DMT). We strongly encourage district managers to nominate their district FREP team for this award. Please submit your nominations for the FREP work done in the 2013 field season in the format provided for easier evaluation by the voting panel. Please fill in as much information as possible. Your completed nomination forms should be emailed to Barry.Elliott@gov.bc.ca by June 13, 2014. Who is on the voting panel? The voting panel consists of a representative of last year’s winning district, regional FREP contacts, the FREP Stewardship Evaluation and Quality Assurance Specialist, at least two RVTLs, Director of Resource Practices Branch and the FREP program lead. The panel will evaluate nominations and make a recommendation to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) of Resource Stewardship Division, who will make a final determination of the winning district. What are the evaluation criteria? The evaluation criteria are a combination of qualitative and quantitative components. The overall goal is to recognize the district that made the most significant contribution to RSM and FREP as a whole. See the nomination form (below) for a description of each of the nomination criterion. 1 What does the award consist of? The winning district will be awarded the coveted hand carved FREP trophy at an appropriate recognition event. The accomplishments of the winning district will be submitted to the FLNRO newsletter “The Dirt”, and be posted on the FREP website; along with a letter of recognition from the ADM. What is the timeline for nominations and awarding? Nominations are due by June 13, 2014. The award event will be arranged with the winning district for a convenient time. Continuous improvement The award process will evolve and grow each year as suggestions are made to improve it. At the end of the process, FREP will ask for feedback from award recipients, nominees, the District Manager and the ADM to find out what worked well and what could be improved the following year. 2 Forest and Range Evaluation Program ADM’s Award for Excellence in Resource Stewardship Monitoring Nomination Form A.
