Job Profile
Position: Digital Audio Arts Director
Status: Full time with benefits
Salary: $48,000 - $55,000
Job Summary:
Under general supervision of Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay Director of Operations, Digital Audio Arts
Director should be considered a professional, practicing teaching artist and is responsible for the
development, direction and management of Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay Digital Audio Arts and Music
program. The Digital Audio Arts Director will collaborate with the Arts Initiative team to design and
implement a rich music program focused on music production including song writing, audio engineering
and performance. The Digital Audio Arts Director is responsible for delivering youth centric arts
programming that is shaped with active, real-time influence and input of youth participants on program
content and approach, holds youth to high expectations, is built around hands-on skill building with current,
professional technology, engages key stakeholders and culminates with high profile public events.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America, with the support of the Wallace Foundation, has launched an Arts Initiative
in three pilot Boys & Girls Club organizations including Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay. The goals of this
pilot project are to develop an approach to implementing arts programming in Boys & Girls Clubs, using the
research-based Success Principles, detailed in the Wallace Foundation’s research report Something to
Say, Success Principles for Afterschool Arts Program 1; test that approach in Clubs; and ultimately
determine how to define quality arts programming that provides young people with opportunities to see the
arts as a vital human experience and a viable, life-long pursuit. This role will be critical to the project’s
successful implementation.
Job Functions:
1. Provide Professional Arts Instruction Club Youth, Specifically Tweens (10-13 years old)
 Establish and maintain, in collaboration with youth, an environment of physical and emotional
safety based on respect at all levels.
 Implement Digital Audio Arts through the 10 Success Principles maintaining the integrity of
each Principle as detailed in the Something to Say research report.
 Provide hands-on, experiential learning through Digital Audio Arts based upon results of Club
implemented youth surveys and focus groups.
 Lead five 6-week arts programming blocks throughout the year: Two in the fall semester, two
in the spring semester and one over the summer. Each program session should consist of skill
development classes at least twice a week for two hours and at least one 3-hour open studio
time2.
 In collaboration with youth artists and supported by other Club staff, organize and implement
at least three high profile public culminating events for programs.
 Adhere to all requested program evaluation and documentation protocol detailed by Boys &
Girls Club of Green Bay, BGCA and Research for Action Evaluation Consultants (RFA).

Twice a week skill development classes and open studio time should be specifically tween focused programming.
2. Develop and Deliver Relevant High Quality Digital Music program focused on Production and
Audio Engineering
 Provide youth participants skills and guidance for creating their own music centered on
relevant issues they are personally interested in.
 Design and facilitate skill development and open studio classes for ALL skill levels (nonmusicians, beginner, intermediate and advanced musicians).
 Establish and maintain a physically and emotionally safe space for young musicians to create
their art.
 Include training in music production and audio engineering and also incorporate foundations
in music basics and song writing and structure, including pop culture styles and themes,
especially those of interest to youth participants.
 Lead skill development/open studio time, time for peer to peer learning and performance.
 Expose youth to diverse styles of music and musicians.
 Educate young music producers and audio engineers about equipment setup, responsible
usage and the studio space.
 Secondary employment may be accommodated but must be disclosed in advance and
requires direct supervisor approval. All work product arising from the Youth Arts Initiative is
property of the employer.
3. Serve as a Full Time Club Staff, Youth Mentor and Arts Initiative Team Member

Participate in all required and recommended Club trainings and staff meetings.

Serve as an adult mentor to all Club youth.

Serve as a champion for high quality arts making and lead professional development
workshops/trainings in the arts and the 10 Success Principles for other Club staff across the
organization.

Actively collaborate, provide support and resources to Arts Initiative Liaison staff, Leadership
staff, CPO/ED, board members and other Organizational leadership.

Actively participate in all required site visits, conference calls, group trainings, meetings and
professional development opportunities detailed by of Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay, BGCA,
RFA and members of the Wallace Foundation.
Skills and Traits
1. Professional, Practicing Teaching Artist
 Has earned markers of success in the field of music production and audio engineering,
including, but not limited to: professional production, recording and public performance of
original music; has been commissioned to produce, record and/or engineer for a company,
organizations or professional artists; has generated income/revenue from music production; is
notably celebrated for music recording, production and performance.
 Holds a relevant bachelor of fine arts or master of fine arts degrees in the arts, specifically
Music; admission to juried shows; publication or equivalent.
 Has worked in a mentorship/teaching role with tween youth
2. Passion, Commitment and Knowledge of Music and Boys & Girls Clubs
 Demonstrates commitment and dedication to Music Production and Audio Engineering.
 Gives compelling testimony to the value of music and the arts as well as high quality arts
learning
 Shows care and concern for youth and their artistic practice
 Moves others to commit to their work in music
 Understands the 10 Success Principles and research detailed in the Something to Say
research report
 Understands outcome measurement specified for the Arts Initiative

Education and Experience






Holds a relevant bachelor of fine arts or master of fine arts degrees in the arts, specifically
Music and/or Audio Engineering; admission to public performances; publication or equivalent
Minimum of five years’ professional/public experience in Music and/or Audio Engineering
Has studied Music and/or Audio Engineering at an advanced or professional level for more
than one year
Is aware of pop culture specifically related to music.
Demonstrated successful experience with current, professional equipment and technology
related to Music and/or Audio Engineering
Has experience with professional, high profile artistic events and/or performances
Environmental and Working Conditions
Artist Mentor will have access to a fully dedicated Digital Audio Arts Studio / Music Lab within the Bruce W.
Nagel Unit of the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay. Tween programming for the Arts Initiative should be the
primary focus of the Artist Mentor, however, collaboration with the Club staff and Arts Initiative team should
take place to plan all additional programming, professional development and networking. Travel estimated
at 30% (attendance at all group trainings and meetings, noted conferences and symposiums required).
Ability to travel by car and by airplane.
Physical and Mental Requirements
High energy level, comfortable implementing multi-faceted, hands-on programs in conjunction with day-today Club activities. Superior interpersonal abilities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities,
specifically the tween age group, at all times displaying tact, maturity, flexibility and professionalism. Must
have good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
