Intelligent software to manage biological water quality data
Comprehensive overview of data enables holistic
analyses
Aachen, October 2015. According to the OECD, in 2012 the average
person in England used around 150 litres of water per day. Spain
used 265 litres per capita per day, followed by the Netherlands with
218 and France with 164 litres per capita per day. These quantities
remain by and large constant. To ensure top quality of such
quantities of this precious liquid resource, the water utilities and
environmental agencies need a comprehensive view of the aquatic
ecosystem. Not only physical-chemical and hydrological data need
to be taken into account, but also biological water quality. In order
to support the suppliers and the regulatory authorities in the
management and analysis of biological data, as well as its
relationship with other data collected simultaneously or recently,
KISTERS has now brought KiECO to market. This software provides a
comprehensive overview of all data, its interpretation and the
identification of interdependencies.
Thanks to the complete integration of KiECO in the water resource
management system WISKI and the water quality module, users can
track and evaluate biological, chemical-physical and hydrological data
in a single system.

Holistic analyses now possible
In this way KISTERS ensures holistic analyses and the identification of
relevant interdependencies between the various types of data. The
geographical presentation options make it possible to display all of
the findings visually, with geographical reference to the examined
sampling areas, in the WISKI map. The high degree of flexibility within
the data structure allows the management and inspection of the
information as well as customer-specific mapping of input, access and
output. Because KISTERS has set up an integrated and complete
solution, the utility companies and regulatory authorities get
software that is adapted to their specific issues and supports their
workflows.
Given that the internationally active IT vendor has compiled
comprehensive information for water resource management in a
database, users will avoid the manual steps involved in data
consolidation. The flexibility of the solution moreover allows the
management of non-water related ecological data. Consequently the
utilities and regulatory authorities can be spared the procurement of
an additional software package.
