As one of the fastest growing areas in athletics, but still least
understood, this presentation will discuss intellectual disability,
diagnosis criteria, and genetic findings within special populations.
Mrs. Kinney will conclude with some personal case studies and
adaptations to treating and evaluating sports related injuries.

As Athletic Training has evolved as a health care profession, more
athletic trainers are moving into physician practice settings. Mrs.
McNeil will discuss the benefits of having ATC’s in a physician
setting using her own personal experiences.

Board of Certification Exam Prep
Jill Dale, MS, ATC, LAT
This workshop will cover how the BOC exam is developed, the
exam format, and what to expect on exam day. Topic examples to
be presented include multiple choice, multi-select, drag & drop,
focused testlet, and hot spot, which are used for the exam.
Strategies for studying and preparation as well as available
sources will be discussed. The workshop will conclude with a mini
“study session” using practice questions.

Functional Movement Screen Workshop
Ron Laham, MEd, ATC, CSCS, PES, FMS
This workshop will review, and demonstrate the components of the
Functional Movement Screen (FMS). We will discuss the theory
and purpose behind FMS in clinical practices. Students will be
instructed on the use of FMS and have the opportunity to practice
and assess movement patterns.

SPEAKER BIOS
Jamie Ames, MD, MS
Dr. Ames graduated from Harvard in 1995 where he earned a degree in American History. After
college he worked as a math teacher at the Colorado Rocky Mountain School in Carbondale,
Colorado, and as a business manager and backcountry guide in Edwards, Colorado. He returned
east and completed his medical school (2004) and orthopedic residency (2010) at
Dartmouth. During residency he completed a masters at The Dartmouth Institute for Health
Policy and Clinical Practice (2008). He completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the
Steadman-Philippon Research Institute in Vail, CO (2011). His practice includes sports
medicine and hip, shoulder and knee arthroscopy. He is an active member of the US Ski and
Snowboard Physician Pool (national governing body of Olympic skiing and snowboarding). He
is also a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy
Association of North America and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He and his wife
Beth have three boys (Sam, Ben and Andrew) all of whom are avid Dartmouth College sports
fans and outdoor enthusiasts.
Jill Dale, MS, ATC, LAT
Jill is a clinician, practice manager and owner of Orthopedic & Sports Therapy Associates, LLP
in Elmira NY. She has worked in this capacity since the practices inception in 1989. She also
currently works for Guthrie Sports Medicine doing outreach Athletic Training to high schools,
colleges, and professional athletic teams locally in NY & PA. She is an adjunct professor at
Corning Community College where she has taught Introduction to Athletic Training for the past
12 years. She served two terms on the NYS Committee for Athletic Trainers developing the
rules & regulations for the NYS practice act. She served as the secretary of the New York State
Athletic Trainers Association from 1990 – 1994 and chaired the Clinical / Industrial Committee
from 2006 -2012. She received her undergraduate degree from SUNY Cortland in Physical
Education & Athletic Training in 1980 and her master’s degree in Athletic Training from Illinois
State University in 1981. She has volunteered for the BOC in exam development since 1996 in
many roles; Test Site Administrator, Examiner Training Program Facilitator, Exam Development
Panelist, for the practical exam, Chair, Practical Exam Development Committee, and most
recently Chair, Examination Development Committee from 2008 – 2013.
Heather Kinney, MS, ATC, LAT, PES, CES
Heather Kinney has been an athletic trainer for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center
(UPMC) for 5 years where she has worked at Keystone Oaks School District and currently, West
Jefferson Hills School District, located outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She obtained her
bachelor’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania where she did her senior research
paper titled, “Athletic Participation Limitations in the Down’s Syndrome Population.” Her paper
and presentation won her a University research award and was later published in the
Undergraduate Research Journal for the Human Sciences. During this time, she also shadowed at
one of three Special Education Schools in Allegheny County and worked numerous Winter and
Summer Special Olympics State Games in Pennsylvania. While employed through UPMC, she
has worked the Football Camp for the STARS, a football camp for men with Down’s Syndrome.
She has presented on this topic at multiple events including the PATS Student Symposium in
EATA 2016 Student Program
2015. With a staff of over 100 athletic trainers, Heather is a common resource for co-workers
regarding this topic.
Ron Laham MEd, ATC, CSCS, PES
Ron was a collegiate athletic trainer for over 20 years at both the Division I and Division III
level. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Lasell College teaching in the Athletic Training
and Exercise Science Programs. His primary focus is therapeutic exercise and strength and
conditioning and he incorporates the Functional Movement Screen into both the classroom and
his work with clients. Ron currently serves as the EATA Treasurer as well.
Molly McNeil, MEd, ATC, OTC
Molly is an AT-Physician Extender to Dr. Jamie Ames at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Orthopaedics
and Sports Medicine, and dual licensed in the states of Vermont and New Hampshire. She
received her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from The Ohio State University in 2010. She
then worked at NC State University in Raleigh, NC as a graduate assistant athletic trainer while
completing her Masters in Education of Health Professions. In 2013 she completed the ATPhysician Extender Residency at Emory Sports Medicine Center in Atlanta, GA. Following 9
years in the midwest and southeast, she returned home to the Twin States to continue her career
at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Her responsibilities include evaluating patients in clinic, assisting in
surgery, overseeing AT outreach, and practice building of the sports medicine program. Molly is
also the District 1 representative to the NATA Committee on Practice Advancement, and serves
as a preceptor to Colby Sawyer College’s ATEP program. She lives in southern Vermont with
her fiance Kevin and their French mastiff Hazel. They enjoy exploring the outdoors of the north
country, and proudly support the Dartmouth Big Green and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Sarah Quinttus, ATC, RYT
Sarah Quinttus lives in Burlington Vermont and attended the University of Vermont, graduating
in May of 2012 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training. Upon graduating, Sarah
worked as a per diem Athletic Trainer for St. Michael’s College, Rice High School, and South
Burlington High School. Sarah started working at the EDGE Sports & Fitness in May 2012, a
local health club, as an aid in their Physical Therapy Clinic, where she now works as the
Wellness Director. Sarah recently brought GENAVIX Wellness to the EDGE, which is a
network of 28 clubs throughout New England who offer pervasive and comprehensive 13-week
holistic wellness programs. Sarah became a Registered Yoga Teacher in October of 2013, after
completing her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Boston, MA. She teaches public Power
Vinyasa Yoga classes, trains private clients, and teaches at larger public events. Sarah is an avid
yoga practitioner and is a huge advocate for the many wide-range benefits of yoga.
Mike Schiavone, MS, ATC, PES, CES
Mike is a 2012 graduate of West Chester University, where he completed clinical rotations with
Villanova University Football, Downingtown West High School, West Chester University
athletics, and the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League. After graduating from WCU
he went to The University of Florida to work as an intern athletic trainer with men's tennis and
men's basketball. After one year as an intern he was offered a Graduate Assistant position to
stay at UF with the same sports. During the summers of 2013 and 2014 he obtained his
Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) and Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES)

certifications. He completed his Master's Degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology in
August 2015. Upon finishing at UF he accepted a full time position as an assistant athletic
trainer with Army West Point Football in West Point, NY, and began working there in June of
2015.
Kevin Wade, MBA, ATC
Kevin Wade completed his undergrad at Stony Brook University with a B.S. in athletic training
and a minor in business. While at Stony Brook he was selected as the EATA Student Delegate
for New York and held many positions within the school of health technology and management.
Upon graduating Kevin started his career as a clinic-outreach ATC for Manhasset High School
and Professional PT. While working full time he attended business school at Adelphi and
received his MBA in healthcare administration. A promotion to sports medicine coordinator had
him assisting with the management of over 90 ATCs and over 20 outreach contracts. After 5
years of working as an ATC, Kevin was offered a position with a tech startup in New York City
as an account manager for a firm that specialized in 3D printed orthotics and insoles that licensed
it's technology to podiatrists, orthopedists, physical therapists and chiropractors throughout the
U.S. and several other countries.
