Unit Focus: Observational Drawing
Students spend Autumn 1 learning how to draw in
one point perspective. They will look at the work of
Patrick Caulfield to design their ideal bedroom.
Students will look at colour theory and how colour
can affect your mood

Students are to design an A2 outcome of an
exotic/carnivorous plant using mark-making in the style
of artists studied and will use colour to convey mood.
Students will spend Spring 1 looking at Jean – Michel
Basquiat, Vincent Van Gogh and Georges Seurat. They
will also learn how to draw from observation.

Students will spend Summer 1 looking at Leonardo Da
Vinci and his inventions. They will reference the film the
‘Terminator’ and consider if Leonardo Da Vinci was
alive today would be ‘ahead of the game’ and
investigating artificial intelligence?

Students will spend Autumn 2 completing their A2
final piece. Students will add a surreal element into
their bedroom design. Students will paint their
bedroom in watercolour
Students will spend spring 2 making their A2 outcome
of an exotic/carnivorous plant using mark-making in
the style of the artists studied and will use colour to
convey mood.

and new technology by distressing the background of
their final piece using tea. They will use foil and
embossing techniques in their hand for the microchips
as a contrast to the old. Students will put their own
codes about themselves into their artwork
