JOB DESCRIPTION FINANCIAL DELEGATION: POSITION TITLE: PORTFOLIO: Personal Development Instructor Academic Services REPORTS TO: ROLES REPORTING TO THIS ONE: Head Teacher Security & Leadership Location: Vocational Education & Development Center Nil PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: To instruct the Personal Development curriculum in a student-centered manner and in accordance with the VEDC Curriculum Strategy. KEY CHALLENGES: KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Assist with the management and conduct of the Personal Development curriculum. Participate in all training/instructional delivery requirements in accordance with the Curriculum Strategy and VEDC instructions. Ensure all training is produced and conducted in a dynamic, challenging, realistic and safe manner, in line with the Curriculum Strategy and current doctrinal teaching and methods. Ensure training is achievable and progressive by implementing ongoing assessment, validation and quality control in line with the Curriculum Strategy. Through validation, report on and offer advice and recommendations for enhancement of training to full meet Learning Outcomes, including the state of training resources. Conduct assessments and report on levels of training of students and groups. Assist in the production and enhancement of VEDC training publications and facilities as required. Administer and advise on all personal development training stores requirements in order to conduct training as required. Give career and life skills counseling to students with a view to facilitating a transition to further education or employment. Assist in the counseling of students with social and personality/character issues and identify the best solutions to address them. Monitor student behavior and support the VEDC ‘Command and Control’ arrangements during non-lesson hours. Perform other duties and tasks in support of training where required and appropriate. DESIRABLE QUALITIES: The aptitude to work with Arab youth who may have a variety of social and / or personality issues. Having a special affinity for proactively interacting with students and engaging them in all aspects of their boarding school life. Strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people. Sound understanding of technologies that support educational development and current with technology developments. Adventure Training and/or Physical Education and/or Life Skills training qualifications. Possessing ‘hobby’ skills that can be utilized within extra-curricula activities. Previous employment and/or experience of youth groups. Previous employment and/or experience in resource, leadership and initiative training. Presentations/Public Speaking Experience. Computer literate (MS Office suite of software preferred). Previous employment within a Military Unit Training Office environment. Employment or experience with youth groups such as Army Foundation College, junior leaders or cadets. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Ex Western Armed Forces (regular), Junior or Senior Non-commissioned Officer with a minimum 6 years regular Army/Marine service. Passed SCBC or equivalent promotional course. Instructional techniques qualification and experience.
