Travel SMART Targets 2012/13 The University of Essex is committed to reducing its emissions by 43 per cent across all scopes by 2020 on 2005 levels. This paper sets out the procedures in place for Transport greenhouse gas emissions. The University’s Transport Strategy is promoted by a full time Transport Policy Coordinator whose role is to promote sustainable travel measures to bring about mode shift from single occupancy vehicle use. The measures in the document are consistently promoted across the University community by events, themed months and other awareness programmes throughout the academic year.
