Travel SMART Targets 2012/13
The University of Essex is committed to reducing its emissions by 43 per cent across all
scopes by 2020 on 2005 levels. This paper sets out the procedures in place for Transport
greenhouse gas emissions.
The University’s Transport Strategy is promoted by a full time Transport Policy Coordinator
whose role is to promote sustainable travel measures to bring about mode shift from single
occupancy vehicle use. The measures in the document are consistently promoted across
the University community by events, themed months and other awareness programmes
throughout the academic year. A website provides resource information on travel methods;
this can be accessed online at www.essex.ac.uk/transport.
