Introduction
Killinghall Primary School is a 2 form entry school growing to a 3 form entry by 2016
with approximately 30 children in each class. Each class has a class teacher and
additional support staff according to the needs of the children.
For the professional development of teachers, teachers move from year to year
generally within Key Stages. The following staff list is updated annually and gives
you the name of the staff in different positions in school. The Senior Leadership
Team consists of a Headteacher and two Deputy Heads.
The Headteacher is responsible for health and safety and the day to day running of
the school. She is accountable to Governors who set policy and act as critical
friends to ensure school provides the best possible education for its children.

Where parents are actively involved in their child’s education, children achieve more.
Because we believe in the power of partnership with parents we have several groups
that actively encourage parental involvement.
Parents’ Forum
Our Parents’ Forum meets to discuss issues around education, how best to support your
children and areas of school we can change. Please come along and look out for texts.
KPFA
The Parents and Friends Association is now well established and meet regularly to
organise lots of events throughout the year. They organise many fundraising
activities such as Eid bazaars, fun days, parent day gift shops, school parties and
other events. Please come along to our meetings. See website for details.
Parental Involvement Officer – Shaheen Khan
Shaheen our Parental Involvement Officer is able to communicate in several
languages. She is available to translate for parents in meetings and works closely
with ‘Achievement 4 All’ in projects to ensure all our pupils are involved in out of
school activities run in our local area and in school.
We run a Parent Toddler Group each Thursday afternoon. Our Parent Partnership
Schemes enable parents, their children and school to work together.
There is a special Family Learning Programme and parent workshops. All parents
are members of the KPFA, our parents and friends association.
Family Support Worker – Bobo Malik
Our Family Support Worker is available to support parents with all types of issues,
parenting skills, behaviour, housing and general welfare issues.
School Council – Pupil Voice
We have a democratically elected school council; this has pupil representatives from all
classes in Key Stage 2. They meet formally each week with a set agenda. The results are
minuted and fed back to the classes through circle time and a central notice board.
Achievement 4 All
Killinghall Primary is a member of the BD3 cluster of schools now known as
Achievement 4 All. We work together to provide extended school activities for the
Bradford 3 community. This includes parent classes, holiday activities, weekend
classes (study support) and homework clubs in member schools. We work together
to improve our schools and share good practices.

International Community and Education
In the past we have had links with a school in Shanghai, Bradford and France. We are at
present seeking to link with a school in Africa and Dubai. We feel that our curriculum should
provide pupils with a deep knowledge and understanding of other cultures and communities
beyond Bradford and Britain – by understanding others we better understand ourselves.
We are engaged in many activities in and beyond school that develop our children’s sense
of right and wrong and social justice.
They learn about oppressive regimes across history to better understand and value their
human rights. We hope they learn to value ‘the human condition’ and understand how to
reason between what is just and unjust. We teach them about the consequence of
behaviour and their right to make choices. Much of this is taught through geography /
history / PSHE and RE. All of these are delivered through carefully chosen topics.
Behaviour
Parents are ultimately responsible for the behaviour of their children so it is important that
parents understand the school’s expectations and support the teachers in understanding
and complying with our behaviour policy.
We have a code of conduct that is valued by our children, parents and adults and
encourages a positive attitude to behaviour and applies to staff and pupils alike. See our
behaviour policy.
Parents need to set good examples in all their behaviour and the school does not tolerate
rude or aggressive behaviour towards its staff. Any parents threatening staff or children may
be banned from the school premises.
