CDCS Meeting of the SCC
December 9, 2014, 6:30pm
Meeting began with a guest speaker, Yolanda Cameron from Wes for Youth. Yolanda told us her story,
and told us what Wes for Youth online offers the students in our area. Yolanda also gave us insight into
some troubling facts about teen suicide. Thank you to Yolanda for taking the time to keep us informed.
Attendance; Dale Ahrens, Wendy Louwerse, Kirstin Hastings, Lydia Howie, Dawn Beitz, Janice McGuire,
Susan D’Angelo, Sue Stuempfle, Christina Rhody, Jen Isber-Legge, Lori MacKinnon, Nina Gabert.
Student Government Co-president Nina briefly spoke just before our Guest as she had another meeting
to attend. Her report is attached. Nina also spoke about the fundraising efforts of her group and their
plans in the school

Elementary Teacher’s Report
Girls Volley ball tournament was a success with a 2nd place and a 3rd place finish in their tournaments
Boys volley ball tournament to take place on Thursday Dec 11.
The parade was a success with the Jr Band playing on the float and many students walking along behind.
Thanks for the float and truck Stuempfles!
Book Fair was a success raising money for classroom and library purchases
Primary Concert is Dec 15th at noon and 6:30pm. Jr Choir and the Sr. Band will be participating in the
secondary Christmas Concert on December 11th.
Attack the Books program will start shortly when they work out the details of the program for this year.
Attack players will visit the school on January 14 and speak to the students. Our CDCS night at the
hockey game is Jan 31 and the choir will be singing. Ticket sales will begin in January and will be $12 ea.
Skating days will be starting in January. No busing needed as we can walk to the arena! Details to come.
Secondary Teacher’s Report – Attached
Question, will the caring cup and giving tree be linked with families that the Cougar Cares campaign will
be helping? Yes.
Family Day Event
Lydia is heading up the Family Day event for Monday February 16th and is busy booking events and
registration opportunities. This year will run from 10:00 – 1:00. Anyone with any suggestions or who can
volunteer is asked to contact Lydia
Fundraising Committee
Working on 2 projects in the new year. Feb 21 Bonspiel, money raised to be used for supplementing
classroom supplies. April 25th, Kinsmen dance, money raised to be used towards landscaping and smart
tech support. Details to come in the new year!
Next Fundraising meeting Jan 5th at 6:15pm. Volunteers for event sub committees needed!

New Business
Jen discussed briefly the new ARC proposed guidelines that were released by the ministry on Dec 8th.
Parents need to follow all reports and we should be ready to comment in the new year.
