The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is the advanced concert band at SHS and is an auditiononly ensemble class. Audition for this class is a choice, and therefore requires students to meet the following criteria for membership:
1. All Performances on the calendar are required and not available for make-up other than in the case of family emergency or illness. Students will not be excused from any
SWE performances for other school activities or outside activities.
2. Membership in this class remains “tentative” for all SWE members throughout the academic year and mid-year confirmation auditions may be scheduled in the event a student is struggling to keep up with the curriculum/literature.
3. Private Lesson Program (approved by director) OR Quarterly Standard Program submitted to the director prior to audition. Quarterly Standard Program will include the following requirements:
1. Monthly standards meeting and audition with director (September-May)
2. CMEA Solo/Ensemble Preparation and Participation
3. SCCBDA Honor Band Audition
*SWE Audition will also count as the audition for SSO Placement for 2015-2016
