Mjonesmotivation P.O.Box 331567 Houston,Texas 77233 Myran Jones myranjones@mjonesmotivation.com www.mjonesmotivation.com 866-424-9081 I have worked with students ages 2 through 18 starting in a church I used to attend. What I saw was that kids want guidance and instruction regardless of where it comes from. With the bombardment of various forms of media I believe that kids need a voice other than parents and educators. I have seen kids in dire straits and they are looking for a positive word or uplifting voice. With the advancement of female headed homes and most teachers being female, sometimes a positive male image is what some kids need to see. I have someone who mentors and counsels me weekly. There are a lot of things that my father could not teach me because he did not know. With the things that I have learned over the past few years, I wished I had someone to teach me some of what I have learned a little earlier in life. I have always had a heart for kids and I still have a heart to help kids. I have avoided doing this for quite some time, but each time I have tried to get away from it, an opportunity presents itself to speak to a group. I have been a regular speaker at Camp Enterprise sponsored by the Houston Rotary Club. Each year they bring together 75 to 100 high school juniors and have speakers from various backgrounds talk to them about Free Enterprise and entrepreneurship. I was a participant in this program 22 years ago as well. I have a tremendous passion for reading good books that stimulate the mind. I like to read autobiographies, bibliographies, self improvement, current events, and relationship building books. I normally read about 3 to 4 books per month minimum. For the last two years I was invited to speak to the students that participate in the Future Business Leaders of America Conference as well an offer to speak on behalf of the Retired NFLPA. More recently, I have started to speak at the university level. As for my background, I own and operate an internet based marketing, distribution, and consulting business, as well as a motivational speaking business. I am a product of Evan E. Worthing HS and the University of Houston where I played football at both locations. I am a currently a member of UH alumni as well. I regularly speak to business owners in varying industries on the topics of dreams, goals, mentorship, and attitude. The title of my talk is normally Empower Yourself for Success. For me, success is not an income level. To me success is how many people are better off because you lived. I met and started dating my wife 19 years ago and we have been married for 12 wonderful years. I believe when you are married with a supportive spouse it makes everything else worth doing. On Thursday November 19, 2009, my class had the privilege of hearing motivating words from Myran Jones. My class consists of students with learning disabilities and mild retardation. He spoke to the students about attitude and perseverance. He also talked to them about self determination and self motivation. He gave the kids an opportunity to ask questions about his personal and professional life. Because he is a member of the community and a graduate from the area schools, the kids were pleased to have him give suggestions for becoming a productive citizen. It was a great pleasure to have this young man speak positive thoughts to our future. —Sharicka Freeman, Carted G. Woodson MS The students enjoyed Myran’s talk. The comments I received related to his commanding presence and his food for thought tidbits that were shared. This was the first time the school has done anything like this and with people like him helping us it may not be the last. –Amalia Alcoriza, Anatomy & Physiology, Pre Ap & Ap Biology, Ap Environmental Science, Andrew Carnegie Vanguard HS Holding the attention of 9th and 10th graders is often a daunting task. Myran made it look easy. His love for Christ, natural sense of humor, and ability to relate to all make him a natural. We’re expecting big things from him. –Byron Vick, Sunday School Teacher, Braeswood Assembly of God
