Art (High School) Instructor: Kathleen Hutton Mrs. Hutton's art classes promote excellence in art making and enjoying the artistic experience. Whether you’re apprehensive about your abilities or confident and experienced, my class can move you along to enjoy the visual arts and achieve what you never thought you could! This course will direct the High School student in the creative process, teaching a strong foundation in art through learning the fundamentals of drawing, painting and sculpture. Some of the areas we will be covering will be line drawing, shading, color theory, acrylic painting, sculpture, and much more! Students will keep a personal sketchbook and explore a variety of different media to create their artwork. Students will have the opportunity to display their finished artwork at the end of the year Celebration. No special supplies are needed. A supply fee will be charged, and the teacher will purchase the art supplies. Supply fee: $80. This includes a sketchbook, portfolio, and all the supplies needed for the art projects for the year. Kathleen home schooled her own children for seventeen years. In addition to teaching here at Arete for the past several years, she has taught high school and middle school art for several years in the Richmond area home school community. She has also taught other classes, including drawing, sculpture and portfolio classes to high school and college students, and sculpture and pottery to elementary home school students.
