Wednesday 12 September 2012 Your weekly update on the coatings industry Current number of subscribers: 43149 Dear reader, Adding value and improving products is a constant procedure in our industry. Researchers from Amir Kabir University of Technology and University of Petroleum Industry, Iran, used zinc oxide nanoparticles to produced epoxy/polyamide coatings. Nanoparticles improved the anti-corrosive properties of the epoxy coating by improving the blocking properties and ionic resistance of the coating. Researchers from the University of Georgia, USA, highlight how to add complex functionality to a polymeric interface. Postpolymerization modification tunes interfacial properties, such as friction, wettability, and adhesion. Huntsman Polyurethanes and Alberdingk Boley are taking their alliance to a new level. In 2007 both companies teamed up to codevelop polyurethane solutions for the coatings market, now they extended their cooperation by targeting applications in the adhesives and elastomers markets. These and other interesting stories features this week’s edition of our European Coatings Newsletter. Enjoy reading!
