Information Regarding End-of-the-year Activities
Dear 8th Grade Parent/Guardian,
As our second semester begins, we would like to communicate to the families of eighth graders about
the end of the year activities. It is our desire that all eighth graders attend the events discussed in this
letter. At the same time, it is necessary that students meet all the criteria to participate in Promotion, the
Promotion Dance and the Knott’s Berry Farm trip. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of these
events and the criteria that must be met in order to participate.
PROMOTION INFORMATION
We are proud of the great efforts your child has made as they move on to high school. Middle school
promotion is just a stepping-stone in big scheme of our students’ academic career. The promotion
ceremony will be one that is fitting and appropriate for middle school completion. The ceremony will be
take place at Northview High School at their Rally Stand. Additionally, students will not need to
purchase a gown for promotion, however a semi-formal attire is required.
Our promotion is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 12th, at 9:00 am. The promotion ceremony
will be held at Northview High School.
The celebration will also honor eighth graders who are receiving department or presidential awards.
Families will be notified if their child will receive an award. The class will be recognized in unity and
individual names will not be called. All promoting students will receive a certificate of completion.
We ask guests to not come before 8:00 am. All students will need to report no later than 8:30 am to the
Rally Stand. After our ceremony concludes all families and students will need to exit the area.
This is a dignified ceremony and students need to dress appropriately. Students are to wear dress
attire: a collared shirt, dress pants, or dress. Tennis shoes, tee-shirts, flip-flops, or jeans will not be
allowed to be worn during the ceremony.
To participate in the promotion ceremony, students must pass all of their core classes, which include,
history, language arts, math, and science. Students receiving any failing grade at the end of the semester
will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. A failing grade may also result in the need to attend
and pass summer school classes at Northview High School.
