Let’s Talk About the Grade Contract Now Is the Time To Take Charge! 23 th 8 Two Important Goals at MacArthur are: 1) To teach students to take responsibility for their actions 2) To encourage students to take pride in maintaining appropriate and acceptable behavior. • These goals are an integral part of our educational program. • Now that preparations are underway for the promotion of all eighth grade students, we are continuing to stress the importance of these goals through our qualifications for student participation in the eight grade end-of-the-year activities. 24 Cell Phone Use • • • • Texting Facebook Twitter Instagram Social Media • SnapChat 25 • • • • • • How to avoid Suspension - Expulsions Do the right thing/ Peer pressure Drugs/Paraphernalia/Alcohol Fights Weapons & look-a-likes Other Inappropriate Actions PDA After School – avoid areas such as park, restrooms, unsupervised areas 26 • Beginning the first semester of the eighth grade year, all students will and are going to be repeatedly reminded by staff members and all administrators that during the second semester their record of attendance, behavior, and class work will affect their eligibility for participation in the end-of-the-year eighth grade activities. 27 • On January 30, 2015, the second semester began. At that time, all students received new Assignment Cards and Tardy Cards for all classes. • Having new Assignment Cards and Tardy Cards means a fresh start for your student. We believe that this places all students at the same starting point and gives an equal opportunity for eligibility to each person. 28 YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL Slide Show Dance Knott's Trip Ceremony • All 8th grade students will qualify for their activities and privileges until they have reached the following consequences: 29 Lost Privileges Infraction 1st Friday Slide Show Dance Knott’s Ceremony 2nd Friday Lost Privilege Lost Privilege 3rd Friday Lost Privilege Lost Privilege Lost Privilege 4th Friday Lost Privilege Lost Privilege Lost Privilege Forging Signatures Lost Privilege Lost Privilege Lost Privilege Possible Exclusion Suspension Lost Privilege Lost Privilege Lost Privilege Possible Exclusion 1 F and below 2.0 GPA or 2 or more F’s 5th grading period Lost Privilege Lost Privilege Lost Privilege Possible Exclusion Lost Privilege 30 • Students who receive 3 or 4 Friday Schools will lose all privileges. • Students who forge signatures will lose all privileges. • Students receiving one F and below a 2.0 GPA or 2 or more F’s in the 2nd semester will lose all privileges.
