Discussion
Barbara Miller informed the committee that the library might be
moved and a possible location would be the Education and Research
Building (ERB)
Discussion of repercussions of moving the library across the street to
the ERB
Program directors pointed out that it would be difficult for the
housestaff to use a library in the ERB as 1) it’s out of the hospital, so
not convenient, and 2) their phones don’t work there
Joan D’Antonio added that it would be very difficult for the nurses to
leave the hospital during their shifts
The committee recommended a report with data on how the library
space is used and by whom
Barbara Miller reported the Cooper Citrix receiver was the method
agreed upon (by Cooper and Rowan) by which Cooper employees
would be remotely accessing library resources
Snehal Gandhi expressed some concern that the Citrix receiver might
prove problematic
Barbara Miller gave the committee an update on the new electronic
resource library for both the Cooper Medical School of Rowan
University (CMSRU) and the Cooper University Health Care
The UMDNJ/Camden Library website was retired on 6/28/13 so all
users now access library resources via CMSRU Library website
In order to build the collection, the library staff conducted a survey
of the clinical faculty, met with the CMSRU biomedical faculty
(BMS), received input from the Research Institute and solicited
feedback from Nursing. The staff also worked with residency
Program Directors to subscribe to resources unique to their residents
and fellows
Two new librarians were hired this past academic year. Karen Stesis
was hired as a research librarian with a background in hospital,
academic medical and pharmaceutical libraries. Sharon Whitfield
was hired into the newly created position of Emerging Technologies
Librarian

Action
There was a discussion of a trial for a new product that is being
conducted in the ED
Nancy Calabretta talked about a resource that we already have as a
part of the Nursing Reference Center called PERC. The Patient
Education Reference Center (PERC) provides nurses and health care
professionals with evidence-based handouts that can be customized,
printed and given to a patient at the point-of-care
This product integrates with EMRs
A discussion ensued with Snehal Gandhi voicing some interest in the
product
