Miller Sundip Patel, MD Medical Student (Phase II) Department Director of CME GME (Pediatrics) Director of Allied Health Internal Medicine Performance Improvement GME Emergency Medicine Medical Student – M2 Applications Analyst Gastroenterology Director of Library Emergency Medicine No Phase II Medical Students Other Attendees: Nancy Calabretta, Assistant Director, CMSRU Library 5/22/13 x Appt. 9/13 x x Appt. 9/13 x x x Topic Library Move Remote Access to Library Resources for Non-Rowan Employees Library Update Discussion Barbara Miller informed the committee that the library might be moved and a possible location would be the Education and Research Building (ERB) Discussion of repercussions of moving the library across the street to the ERB Program directors pointed out that it would be difficult for the housestaff to use a library in the ERB as 1) it’s out of the hospital, so not convenient, and 2) their phones don’t work there Joan D’Antonio added that it would be very difficult for the nurses to leave the hospital during their shifts The committee recommended a report with data on how the library space is used and by whom Barbara Miller reported the Cooper Citrix receiver was the method agreed upon (by Cooper and Rowan) by which Cooper employees would be remotely accessing library resources Snehal Gandhi expressed some concern that the Citrix receiver might prove problematic Barbara Miller gave the committee an update on the new electronic resource library for both the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) and the Cooper University Health Care The UMDNJ/Camden Library website was retired on 6/28/13 so all users now access library resources via CMSRU Library website In order to build the collection, the library staff conducted a survey of the clinical faculty, met with the CMSRU biomedical faculty (BMS), received input from the Research Institute and solicited feedback from Nursing. The staff also worked with residency Program Directors to subscribe to resources unique to their residents and fellows Two new librarians were hired this past academic year. Karen Stesis was hired as a research librarian with a background in hospital, academic medical and pharmaceutical libraries. Sharon Whitfield was hired into the newly created position of Emerging Technologies Librarian Action B. Miller will prepare a report with usage statistics S. Gandhi will follow up with the Cooper CIO, Jay Raman Follow-Up Topic Discussion Patient Education Module for EMR The next meeting will take place on Approved by: Action There was a discussion of a trial for a new product that is being conducted in the ED Nancy Calabretta talked about a resource that we already have as a part of the Nursing Reference Center called PERC.
