From the Word… “Then Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and summoned the elders, the heads, the judges, and the officers of Israel; and they presented themselves before God. And Joshua said to all the people, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Long ago your ancestors--Terah and his sons Abraham and Nahor--lived beyond the Euphrates and served other gods. Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the River and led him through all the land of Canaan and made his offspring many. "Now therefore revere the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness; put away the gods that your ancestors served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.”” Joshua 24:1-3a, 14 Please note: - the correct address for E-Life submissions is: communications@anglicanlife.org.nz - E-Life is sent from a “no-reply” address and replies are not received. The day will be an introduction to T4T, and is a wonderful opportunity to hear from one of Australasia's foremost authorities on this model. One of the most dynamic Church Planting Movements in the world is unfolding today in Asia, through a mighty work of God called “Training for Trainers,” or “T4T.” Today, T4T training is being adapted in communities around the world resulting in many new movements to Christ from Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, and secular background communities. Perhaps God has lessons in T4T that He can use in your own community. If you would like to be more engaged with proclaiming the gospel, discipling new believers and seeing healthy churches planted and reproducing, we invite you to learn more about T4T and ask God how he might use it to multiply new believers and churches in your own community. The training day will be hosted by Church Army NZ, there is no cost, though there will be an opportunity to give a Koha. 4 FRESH EXPRESSIONS: the latest craze of the future of faith? with Phil Potter (UK) Monday 10th November, 9.30-12.30pm @ the Transitional Cathedral Spend a morning with grass roots guru & the new UK Director of Fresh Expressions, Phil Potter. The groups of older people meet weekly for a morning or afternoon session which is run by a paid co-ordinator and a team of volunteers. And the volunteers have fun too! Volunteers say they enjoy many aspects of participating in the Selwyn Centres; for example, they enjoy watching people who had been isolated gaining confidence week by week. They enjoy being able to put people in touch with other community activities; they enjoy the activities and exercises they provide for the guests, the interesting conversations and caring ‘family’ atmosphere. Above all they enjoy being told by the guests how much they are getting out of their visits. The volunteers are trained and supported in their work which many choose to do on a roster. If you or someone you know is interested in finding out more about becoming a volunteer at one of the Centres please contact the Reverend Anne Russell-Brighty by telephone 3848396.
