T.K. Stone Middle School SBDM Minutes February 9th, 2015 I. Call to Order a. The T. K. Stone Middle school SBDM meeting was called to order at 4:32 P.M. on Monday, February 9th, 2015 at T. K. Stone Middle School library by Beth Mather. b. Present: Erica Frierson, Kerrie Bal, Chris Gardner, Carole Brown, Missy Mills and Beth Mather II. Student Achievement a. On the January administration of the SCANTRON Math Test, 145 students made a positive gain of 70 points or higher to their scale score, which is the expectation for ½ of the school year, according to the SCANTRON assessment training. Breakdown: 300+-3; 200+-13; 140+ - 38; 70+ 89 b. SCANTRON Reading-195 students made a positive gain of 70 points or higher to their scale score, which is the expectation for ½ of the school year according to SCANTRON assessment training. Breakdown: 600+ -1; 500+ -3; 400+ - 4; 300+ - 10; 200+-49;140+ - 49; 70+ - 71 c. Students with the highest level of improvement in each subject for each grade level were recognized during morning meeting and given an E’town shirt. All other students scoring above 70 received a reward for either a freebie homework assignment or 5 points added to one grade. Both requiring teacher approval. Students scoring 140+ will have a PAWS ticket added to the end of the 9 weeks drawing. I. Old Business a. Minutes Meeting January 22nd, 2015 Minutes were reviewed. Erica Frierson made a motion to accept the minutes. Seconded by Missy Mills. The motion carried. b. Financial Statement January 2015 Financial statement was reviewed. Erica Frierson made a motion to accept the financial statement subject to audit. Seconded by Chris Gardner. The motion carried. I. New Business a. Mission & Vision i. The Mission & Vision Committee is recommending the following mission and vision statements be approved & adopted by the SBDM. If approved the faculty will meet to develop the Core Beliefs to support the mission and vision. Mission - Moving every student forward everyday Vision - T. K. Stone Middle School will provide the resources and opportunities to develop educated, motivated and empowered students who pursue excellence in all aspects of their lives. Chris Gardner move to approve & adopt both statements. Carole Brown seconded. b. Custodian Vacancy A motion to adjourn to special session pursuant to KRS 61.810 to discuss personal matters was made by by Erica Frierson. Seconded by Carole Brown. Motion to return to regular session by Missy Mills. Seconded by Erica Frierson Recommendation made to higher Roger Embree to fill the current custodian vacancy by Chris Gardner.
