Sexual Violence Caseworker
Reporting to:
Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA)

Purpose of the job
Assisting the ISVA to deliver a pro-active service to adult victims of sexual violence within and
outside of the criminal justice system. With the day to day oversight, supervision and support of
the ISVA the caseworker will:





carry out risk assessments and assist clients to stay safe
help clients to identify and access their rights
help clients to access health and other services they may require
monitor and keep clients informed of case progress
provide support throughout the criminal justice process
Main Duties

















To manage a caseload as determined by the ISVA to ensure effective service delivery. This
will be largely covering South Cumbria, but may be countywide if caseload dictates.
Maintain & monitor records of all cases
Undertake risk assessment and support needs analysis with clients and develop individual
service plans to address risks/support needs of the client
Follow procedures and protocols with other services so that the safety of the clients is kept
central to any process
Provide information and support in relation to the Criminal Justice System
Consider child and adult safeguarding issues when engaging with clients and follow Victim
Supports Safeguarding policies.
Working with victims of sexual violence to help them access other services as determined by
individual need.
Perform the caseworker function in line with the organisation’s emphasis on independence.
Assist the ISVA to provide the best possible service to victims of sexual violence
Work within a multi-agency setting and keep the client’s safety central to all co-ordinated
responses
Respect the diversity of the community in which the project works, and support clients to
access services on an equitable basis.
Keep and maintain accurate and confidential records, and contribute to monitoring
information for the project.
Develop productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
Make sure that Victim Support’s national standards and procedures are observed,
particularly those relating to safe practice, confidentiality and information sharing.
Comply with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements.
Contribute to efforts to improve procedure and services.
Attend line management supervision.
