Among the concepts explored will be creating and grading assignments, discussion forum activities, embedding videos, uploading files, creating Turnitin assignments, importing test banks, general course organization strategies, archiving your course and working in the Blackboard Grade Center. Web-enhancing Your Course*(W139B & TEC 107) September 12 1:00 – 3:00 pm Tracy Dearinger Participants will explore a variety of strategies to extend the classroom into the online environment as a strategic portion of your course(s). Discover ways to take advantage of supported technologies. Avoid printing handouts, syllabi, and PowerPoints by placing these items online. Share your strategies with other teaching professionals! Designing & Developing an Online Course Sep 22 – Dec 19 Online Stoney Gaddy Instructors who have not taught an online or hybrid course before and will be developing such a course from scratch are expected to take this course. The instructor will develop several essential materials and activities for their course during this training. Participants will continue developing their course with assistance from the Director of Distance and Distributive Learning. YouSeeU & Videography Basics*(W139B & TEC 107) September 26 1:00 – 3:00 pm Susan Grant YouSeeU is a video grading and communication tool included in your Blackboard course shell. Learn how to assign students a video recording project and provide guided feedback from the instructor and student peers using this new tool. Additional features will also be covered. Maintaining your gradebook in Blackboard for your courses will provide your students with consistent access to their current grades and provide an easy way to automatically submit mid-semester and final grades to our student information system. Both plagiarism detection and GradeMark capabilities will be explored. Upon completion of this session, you may decide ALL written assignments be submitted via Turnitin in Blackboard. Designing & Assessing Learning*(W139B & TEC 213) November 14 1:00 – 3:00 pm Susan Grant Explore how to establish performance expectations for students, plan teaching and learning strategies that work, and align standards, assessments, and instruction within your course using Bloom’s Taxonomy and the WIDS Learning Design System strategies. We will also explore Cognitive Task Analysis which prompts instructors to focus on what students know, what they perceive, what they believe, and how they think – important insights when teaching adult learners.
