Pupils will advance their understanding of various formations used in 5-a-side football
and utilise these systems in small sided games. Pupils will also have the opportunity to
advance their individual skills in their chosen position.
Pupils will be looking at the design concept, style and tone, time period and
location, practical problems and co-ordination of producing a set and props for
the Christmas Gala.
In this enrichment, pupils will develop their understanding of human nature. They will
learn how human thinking and human behaviour can be influenced. Pupils will
discuss the results from famous psychological experiments and research studies.
Pupils will also learn some of the physiological features of a typical brain and explore
some unusual medical case studies.
This enrichment is designed cater for students with a keen interest in writing and
news, and will provide an additional form of student-voice in the school. The pupils
will be encouraged to write, with support, about school events as well as subjects
and topics that interest them in the news and wider world. The content, design and
production of the paper will all be student led giving opportunity to develop skills in
research, literacy, ICT and design, as well as generate a wider interest in news,
journalism and current affairs. Pupils will be assessed on their engagement and
participation, and each edition will be available to staff and students in the school.
Pupils will design, prepare and apply special effects make-up and prosthetics for the
Christmas Gala. This will include meeting the requirements of the director and
costume designer with regard to design and detail, and ensuring it is correctly
applied for each performance.
The focus of these lessons is to develop self-awareness, self-esteem and social
communication skills. The pupils will be encouraged to listen and pay attention to
other pupils. We will focus on developing and strengthening their friendship
skills. They will learn about the value of friendships, the qualities we look for in friends
and how they can be a kind, supportive friend towards others. We will explore
strategies for dealing with conflict in relationships and encourage the pupils to
express their feelings when someone has upset them.
This enrichment will allow pupils to learn and further develop their craft skills, as well as
enjoy creating imaginative and different products from loom bands. They will be
able to research the internet for instructions in producing their own desired
model/jewellery and will be able to share and follow these during enrichment time.
Pupils will practice good literacy skills when researching, designing and following

Pupils will look at clever, well known advertisements. They will analyse them and look
at how successful they are at appealing to their target market. Pupils will then devise
their own advert for a real or made up product. They will then story board their idea
before shooting the advert with a DSLR, microphone boom and all sorts of
professional equipment. The final stage is editing and post production. Pupils can
add a jingle or fancy text and even special effects.
The ‘Duke of Edinburgh Award’ isn’t just an Enrichment, it’s a way of life! Pupils who
sign up for the DofE Enrichment will work towards the Bronze DofE award, which is a
nationally recognized award scheme. They will take part in two overnight expeditions
in the summer term, during which they will camp, cook and navigate self-sufficiently!
The Enrichments will give them the opportunity to learn the key camping and
navigational skills needed to take part in these expeditions, as well as teaching them
communication skills, team work and supporting them with the other sections of the
award; skills, physical activities and volunteering.
Pupils will compare many different types of comedy, from physical performance
styles, to one-liners, storytellers and lots more. Using this understanding, pupils will then
start to work on their own short performances and create a two minute stand-up set
to present in a showcase performance.
Pupils will learn about the basics of running and what is required, both physically and
mentally, for long distance running. Training plans will be developed which will
hopefully improve runners times and stamina! Pupils will be given an introductory to
different distances and why some people are suited to certain distances. Pupils will
also learn about running ‘form’ and ‘gait’ and which style is the most efficient
(particularly important when running over long distance).
Initially students will be given the opportunity to test themselves against fellow Moat
students (and the clock) over varying distances. Areas for improvement will be
discussed and specific training plans can then be developed. Hopefully over time
endurance, stamina and pacing will improve with a long term aim of competing in
cross-country/track races.
In this enrichment, girls will learn the basic skills of the game table tennis. They will
compete in a friendly yet competitive way to develop their hand-eye coordination
and ultimately table-tennis skills through a variety of skill-building games and
activities.
Please read description for Functional Skills on Wednesday
We will look at the recipes, histories and heritage of ‘afternoon tea’. We will attempt
to bake some classic recipes including scones, cakes and sandwiches and will also
make some traditional table decorations. At the end of term, we will invite a special

Description
Chess Club is a games enrichment covering chess and droughts. Pupils will take part
in weekly tournaments where they will develop their strategies and skills in game and
small prizes can be won.
Card games are an excellent social activity that allows for friendly competition in an
entertaining and accessible setting. Pupils will be introduced to the rules of various
different games and this enrichment will help develop their skills at strategy,
numeracy, coordination and teamwork. At the end of the programme pupils will be
assessed on how well they have developed in their understanding of the games we
have played as well as their participation in each session.
Alebrije is a Spanish word meaning "imaginary" or "fantasy". It is used to describe
fanciful or surrealistic-looking creatures made of wood or papier-mâché. In this
enrichment, pupils will create their own papier-mâché, three-dimensional Alebrije
creature. Starting by drawing out ideas inspired by animals, dinosaurs and their own
imagination, pupils will then combine different structural elements with decorative
painting to bring these imaginary creatures to life.
Please read description for Xmas Gala on Wednesday
During this enrichment we will make a timeline based around the development of
games consoles and gaming. We will experience some vintage gaming and will use
research skills to find out about significant developments and changes, as well as
looking at some major gaming flops.
Music Performance Club offers an opportunity for pupils who are taking instrumental
lessons, in or out of school, to bring their skills into an ensemble to rehearse a
selection of pieces based on the music that they are learning. Charts have been
arranged for guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano and voice and pupils will demonstrate
their progress in a shared performance at the end of term.
