Mandatory units

MUSIM0020 Critical Analysis of Media Music (TB2; Unit Director tbc)

The unit is currently assessed by two essays, one of 2,000 words and one of 4,000 words, i.e.
by more than 5,000 words. As the UD for the unit for the last 10 years, I would be strongly
against changing the assessment, though, because the unit has been very successful in the
past, and the assessment has worked well, and the current assignments are difficult to do with
fewer words.


Important for the information students are provided with for their unit choice: This unit is
taught parallel (and by the same unit director) with the UG unit MUSI30113 Advanced
Technical Studies. The exact topic/period covered by the unit depends on who teaches it in a
given year, so before students choose their units, this needs to be clarified with the DHSU for
Music (Pauline Fairclough), and with the unit director.

