SW conduct an experiment using compass, water dropper, and water. Which direction does the water always go and why? SW use the computer website www.ducters.com/history/ancient _egypt/geography_nile_river.php To learn more about the Nile river Research- TW hand students a Map of Africa. SW locate Egypt. SW locate the Sahara desert and shade it in. Discuss how does Egypt in a desert area survive? SW read Poem to the Nile and Introduce Analyzing Primary Sources. SW discuss the poem was written by ancient Egyptian priest 3,000 years ago. Using last weeks’ time line we will see when this story was written. SW discuss the main idea and feelings of the author. SW complete analyzing Primary Sources. SW compare the MS River to the Egyptian River. How are they alike and different? Write a poem about the MS River. Research- Geography TW begin prepping students for the geography bowl and quiz bowl. TW show students buzzers and Essential Question: What is the importance of the Nile River in Egypt? Why is it important to know and understand geography? T D A D SE DIS explain the rules of quiz bowl. TW begin asking students questions. TW explain how to find the answer to the questions. Research- History of Gulfport SW continue to complete scavenger hunt on the History of Gulfport using research clues, and guest speaker’s notes. Drama – SW read and review the skit/screens created from historical persons in Gulfport. SW discuss who should play what parts, what is expected, dates of the performance. Based on research what costumes should each character where and why? SW fill out forms to their parents about costume needs. Goals- SW continue to review the goals they have started for this year, completing their goals, researching more about their chosen goals, and making phone calls to experts to ask questions. SW work o their vision boards based on their goals. Adding their bubble goals, research information, and pictures as they complete task. TW begin setting up personal field trips for January so each students is set up with a mentor in the career field they are interested in and a field trip to work place. Class BusinessTW review objective healthy cart. Jobs- collect money – counts and checks against order form Accountant- adds all money and graphs results, also compares to earlier weeks. What caused a change in sales? Takes orders- collects all forms from teachers and writes student orders down Fills orders- takes order form and completes order transactions Inventory- what items did we sell the most of? What do we need to order for next week? Delivers- Puts orders in correct teacher buckets Prepares- makes sure every teacher has an order form and money bag for the following day. SW fill out graph charts, questions, and reflections on sales. Conclusion- What Stuck with you today? What did you learn? SW write on sticky note and add to the board. IP C Center Rotations- TSW complete one center rotations involving art and research. Review center expectations and have students sign learning center contract.
