textbooks from City Schools bookrooms.
II.
CITY SCHOOLS ESSENTIAL

III.
GOVERNING POLICY/REGULATORY IMPLICATIONS

IV.
IMPLEMENTATION GUIDELINES
A.
Schools coordinate directly with Textbooksrus to pick up textbooks
according to the following procedures:
1. The school identifies a contact person for the duration of the project. This
individual identifies all the surplus textbooks within the schools and then
calculates the number of book boxes needed to pack them all. Book boxes
will typically hold 14 textbooks, but can hold 50 or more workbooks.
2. This person contacts Mark Davenport of Textbooksrus at 614-216-9369
or via e-mail at mark.davenport@sbcglobal.net to order the boxes.
3. Upon delivery, school personnel pack the boxes with surplus books only.
The tops of the boxes must remain open.
4. School personnel then notify Mark Davenport via e-mail when the boxes
are ready for pickup. Include in the email the number of boxes packed.
Mr. Davenport will advise the school of the pickup date.
5. Once the date of the pick up has been determined, school personnel must
move the boxes to a covered, secured area near the school’s loading dock
to coincide with the date of the pick up. Textbooksrus personnel will
only pick up boxed books from the loading dock.
6. Textbooksrus will pick up the boxed books and determine the value, if
any, and issue a check to City Schools to be credited to the school’s
account shortly thereafter.

7. If changes have to be made in the pickup schedule, schools shall inform
Mark Davenport immediately via e-mail.
8. If a schedule change is needed within 48 hours of a pickup, please contact
Mr. Davenport by telephone at 614-216-9369. Schools requesting a
schedule change within 48 hours of the pickup, risk the likely deferral of
that pickup until the next time Textbooksrus has a truck in the area;
probably 3-6 months.
B.
HIGHLIGHTS
1. Pack boxes with books ONLY (6-10 books per box, depending on size).
DO NOT tape the tops of the boxes shut. Tape only the bottom of the box.
2. Communicate via email only to request boxes and discuss schedules.
3. Ensure that all boxes to be picked up are in an easily accessible, covered,
secured area near the loading dock of the building.
4. A contact person at the school must be identified to coordinate this process
as well as be available at the scheduled pickup time. The contact person’s
information (name, e-mail address, and phone number) must be provided
to Mark Davenport atmark.davenport@sbcglobal.net.
5. If any removed books are found to have re-sale value, Textbooksrus
will issue City Schools a check at the current textbook guide price of the
books which is deposited in the school’s general operating fund budget
account. All non-value books are delivered to the International Book
Bank for shipment or turned into recycled material.
