BOSQUE COUNTY ASSISTANT TREASURER JOB DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION OF OFFICE: The County Treasurer, as the chief custodian of all county funds, including the general fund and special funds, such as those dedicated to a certain purpose and those under the control of an elected official other than the commissioner’s court. The treasurer has a duty to receive all money received by the county from any source and place it in the appropriate county depository. All county money received by any official must be delivered promptly to the county treasurer for proper handling. The county treasurer is also responsible for disbursing county funds as directed by the commissioner’s court consistently with the law. The county treasurer often acts as the chief liaison between the county and all depository banks. In the capacity, she maintains records of all deposits and withdrawals, and reconciles all bank statements, thus assuring their accuracy and the safety of county funds. The county treasurer, who may be designated as the county’s investment officer, is required to submit regular reports to the commissioner’s court about the county’s finances. In the absence of the Treasurer, the Assistant Treasurer has the authority to act in the same capacity as the Treasurer. . ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (to include but not limited to): *Accounts Receivable-receives monies in office and online, enter data into financial accounting system in order to write receipts, distribute receipts to departments. * Prepares daily bank deposits and deliveries deposits to bank. *Records/reconciles deposits of various county offices daily. *Enters daily reports/receipts for County Clerk, District Clerk, Justice of Peace-1, Justice of Peace-2, and Senior Services *Enters as needed reports/receipts for Federal/State/County/other agencies and public. *Receive/Receipt bond and money. Disburse bond monies as directed by court order and maintain all documentation attached to bond according to retention schedule. *Disburse payment to prospective jurors and selected jurors. *Direct prospective juror donations of reimbursement to specified agencies and programs. *Compile juror information for quarterly reimbursement report to Comptroller’s Office. * Submits periodic reports to the commissioner’s court for approval. * Submits quarterly reports to Comptroller’s Office. * Send out utility reimbursement invoices to MHMR, Health& Human Services, & Adult Probation. * Receipt/Record utility reimbursement payments. *Send out wrecker fee invoices as directed by Sheriff Office and receipt/record the payments. *Responsible for expending money from the treasury in accordance with the directions of the commissioners court and honoring orders for payment issued by authorized county officials. *Answers phone, direct calls, and check and respond to emails as needed. *Maintains all files/records according to retention schedule and scan documents into office system. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: *General office practices and procedures. *Basic accounting skills. *Communications skills both verbal and written. *Ability to use basic office equipment. *General computer skills and knowledge of spreadsheet functions. *Ability to organize time efficiently. *Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, county departments, and external auditors. *Multi-task oriented.
