YUROK TRIBE Systems of Care Community Liaison Job Title: Department Reports To: SOC Community Liaison Pay Grade 7/8 Social Services Location Klamath/Eureka Social Services Site Manager FLSA Non-Exempt ALL HIRING IS SUBJECT TO THE YUROK TRIBE’S HIRING PREFERENCE Salary Range $19.15-$24.88/$21.20-$27.56 POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Social Services Site Manager, the SOC Community Liaison will partner with Yurok youth and their families to evoke systemic change in tribal policy and service delivery. The Liaison will assess barriers impacting individuals and families, accessibility and gaps in services, and the evaluation of service delivery. The Liaison will develop a social marketing plan to decrease stigma and promote help seeking behavior. Community input will be utilized to implement holistic, integrated, easily accessible, culturally-relevant services for children, youth, and families. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Educate community, staff, council, and service providers on Systems of Care philosophy, best practices for collaboration, cultural and linguistic competency in the workplace and other identified training modules that will assist in the implementation of Systems of Care. 2. Community Engagement for the development of Community-Driven, Youth-Guided services. 3. Program evaluation to promote continuous quality improvement in service provision to tribal members, including assisting in creating, distributing and collecting pre and post program evaluation surveys, parent surveys, and other evaluative material. 4. Work with Administration and Council to adopt a culturally competent Trauma Informed Care Model within the tribe. 5. Develop a Social Marketing Plan to decrease stigma and improve help seeking behaviors surrounding mental health services. 6. Participate in and report monthly to community advisory board meetings to promote mental health awareness and prevention, and to inform about monthly youth and family activities. 7. Develop and strengthen partnerships between businesses, schools, community members, council representatives, health providers, court systems, law enforcement and state and federal agencies to promote the safe mental health development for families on the Yurok Reservation. 8. Facilitate community psycho education on historical trauma and unresolved grief as directed by Social Services Site Manager. 9. Assist in recruitment for all Social Services related community events. 10. Facilitate community support groups as needed which may include but not be limited to youth groups, parenting groups, and/or life skills groups. 2015 (RS) 1 YUROK TRIBE Systems of Care Community Liaison 11. Attend department meetings and other required meetings and trainings as needed to engage the community and outside agencies in mental health awareness, promotion and prevention, among tribal members and the surrounding community. 12. Must be energetic, forward thinking and creative with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image. 13. Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory responsibilities within this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in group facilitation and psycho education regarding historical trauma and trauma informed care. Experience with program development and evaluation. Must be highly skilled in written and oral communications. Experience must include teaching and/or public presentation. Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse prevention and intervention programs. Must be familiar with Native treatment modalities. Must have knowledge and understanding of local Tribal communities including cultural values and beliefs, history, family systems and community. Ability to work with all phases of the community in a confidential and non-judgmental manner. Computer literate, including Windows, Microsoft Office, Publisher, and graphic design to develop social marketing plan. Ability to plan and schedule workload independently. Possess strong organizational and administrative skills and the ability to plan and implement prevention activities and strategies. Ability to communicate effectively with law enforcement, parents, students, teachers, community and business owners. Demonstrated commitment to collaborative programming emphasizing mental health prevention and awareness. Demonstrated writing skills. Previous experience working with tribal and/or Native American organizations. Must be able to sign and follow a professional code of ethics and conduct. Must pass a comprehensive background check 2015 (RS) 2 YUROK TRIBE Systems of Care Community Liaison EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Grade 7- Bachelor of Art in Behavioral Science, Social Science, or closely related field or AA Degree in Social Science or closely related field and a minimum of two years of specialized experience. Grade 8- Bachelor of Art in Behavioral Science, Social Science, or closely related field and one year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels of this position. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1.
