The TCCC course uses the PHTLS Military textbook and is fully compliant with the Department of Defense’s Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) guidelines. The Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) course, developed by the U.S. military, introduces evidence-based, life-saving techniques and strategies for providing best-practice trauma care on the battlefield and tactical situation. This course has been documented to produce dramatic improvements in casualty survival in Iraq and Afghanistan. While this course was originally developed for combat troops being deployed, this course has obvious application to the civilian tactical setting and is now available to be taught outside of the military. The Rocky Mountain Institute for EMS Education and All-Hazards Preparedness conducts TCCC courses under the auspices of The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) program, the recognized world leader in prehospital trauma education. PHTLS combines the expertise of world-class trauma surgeons, emergency physicians, paramedics and EMS educators.
