Drug Administration
 Understands the mechanism of action, appropriate
therapeutic use, dosing, adverse effects, monitoring
parameters, pharmacokinetic and
pharmacodynamic properties of all transplant
medications (including: cyclosporine, tacrolimus,
mycophenolate, simulect, prednisone, and
thymoglobulin)
 Demonstrates ability to prevent, detect, monitor,
document, and report adverse drug reactions and
medication errors
 Interprets immunosuppressant drug levels while
considering patient-specific data and
pharmacokinetic principles. Able to make
recommendations on dose adjustments to
transplant team
 Understands frequency of immunosuppression drug
level monitoring
 Familiar with standard transplant and post-
