Project Summary
…is a volunteers project for international animators on Belgian playgrounds.
The service consists of 2 weeks, from Monday till Friday, of volunteering on one
the Flemish Don Bosco playgrounds. The animators will be split up into groups
(max. 4 volunteers) and will be active on the different Salesian playgrounds
(oratories). The aim is to
create a joyful time and
holidays for the children from
the age group of 4 to 16. The
children are divided in
different age groups and the
volunteers will be working
together with other
volunteers in one of the age
groups
The volunteers are expected to work together with other young Belgian
volunteers (about 40 volunteers) to carry out the program. The volunteers
work together in planning, leading and evaluation of the programs and thus
take active participation in the work with the children.
They will learn a lot from the simple methods of working in a non-formal
situation and in working and playing together with Belgian children and youth
leaders. This is a simple but very effective working method which they can take
home and implement easily in their working area.
During the weekends, the international volunteers will take part in a joint
program which will organized and carried out by Belgian volunteers. The
program will offer training, evaluation, intercultural activities and cultural
sightseeing.

Participants Profile
* We are applying for 16 European participants. Depending on the number of
partner organizations, we ask you to send minimum 2 or 4 volunteers. We will
send you a special request if we want you to send 4 participants.
* We try to keep this project open to every youths interested in doing a
voluntary service abroad, especially the ones with fewer opportunities or
young NEETs. Although we have some basic conditions to make sure that
quality of the service can be assured. Please mind these conditions! Very
important is the ability to
communicate in English since
this will be the main language
throughout the whole project!
*Volunteers must have min. age
of 18
* Volunteers are expected to
have a basic experience of
working with children.
* Volunteers must be able to
communicate in English (or Dutch)
* volunteers will have to attend the service for the WHOLE period!
Participants will receive a YiA Youth-pass after the project.
Costs
* We are still discussing the financial issues for the Short term EVS project.
Probably volunteers will have to pay approx. €40 to cover the costs for 3
weekends and the stay at the oratories. Because of the decreased grant we
can apply for, it is impossible to keep everything free.

* Volunteers will receive a small amount of pocket money (68€) which can be
used for personal expenses during the service.
*if the participation fee of € 40 is an obstacles for participants, please get in contact with Jeugddienst
Don Bosco so we can look for a solution.
Flight Costs
We are expecting participants to arrive on Friday 3rd of July and leave on
Sunday 19th of July. Please let them travel by Brussels National-airport. It is
the easiest way to get to the venues.
We kindly ask to stay inside the budget. You can check the schedule
underneath to see what is your max.budget (reimbursement) If you exceed this
budget, we will not be able to refund you the extra.
