Chapter 10 & 11 Erosion Project
The purpose of this project is to learn how erosion changes landscapes over time.
1. Create a model (no bigger than 30 inches wide and 30 inches long) that depicts how each of the 5 agents of
erosion changes landscapes over time.
2. Draw a line on your base diving it into two even sections (do NOT cut it in half). One section will contain a
past landscape (1000 years ago); the other will contain the same landscape at present date.
3. Each landscape must include mountain ranges, ice/snow, glaciers, lakes, streams, other bodies of water,
vegetation, and conclude in an ocean.
4. Your project needs to be realistic (no square mountains).
5. You may NOT use any materials that are illegal on campus (if you are not sure, ask the teacher).
6. Before you start, form a plan with your group: how will you show each of the 5 agents of erosion, what will
your landscape look like, who will buy what materials, who will type the labels, heading, and title.
7. Possible materials to use: a sturdy base: THICK styrofoam board or wood, model magic clay, paints,
brushes, sand paper for the beach, toy trees or bushes, green felt material for grass, styrofoam, toothpicks,
cotton balls for condensation, etc.
8. You must have these labels typed and appropriately used (you may cut them off this paper):
Wave Erosion
Wind Erosion
Ice Erosion
Gravity Erosion
Sea Arch
Sea Stack
Precipitation Erosion
Sea Cave
Vegetation
Arête
Glacier
