VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION Volunteer Role: Department: Location: ZSL Contact/ Supervisor: Purpose of Role/ Project: ZSL Camera Trap Data Analysis Technician CP CP West and North Africa Office Tim Wacher and Raj Amin In order to maintain momentum on the excellent progress being made at ZSL with the camera trap analysis tool, volunteer support is needed to address data processing workload and maximise use and impact of the camera trap analysis tool. The program will be organised to ensure familiarisation with the tool by providing data entry experience from several of ZSL’s past and ongoing camera grid operations (see list 1 below). Past data sets will be updated to the analysis tool format for standardised comparisons. With experience gained from this process, the second phase will be to develop a user-manual to support the camera tool (part 2 below). 1. Survey image processing and camera-trap tool data preparation activities Saudi Arabia Uruq survey datasets – August / September 2014; Kenya (update existing Dodori, Boni forest and Arabuko survey datasets to tool format) Guinea (update 2 survey datasets to tool format) Pygmy hippo (process full data set for first time) Mongolia (update past datasets and assist with processing new data sets) 2. Camera trap tool development activities: - User manual - Update existing camera trap training material - Populate region specific tool lookup tables (species, Red list status, habitats etc.) 3.
