16 Key Things Mentioned in Artworks Training 1). Do NOT write or highlight in the art booklets. 2). Please keep the paint in the paint bin. Bring both the grade-level art bin and paint bin to the classroom. Make 2 trips, have a volunteer help you, or use one of the carts that are in the workroom. (One is located under the printer, the other is normally in the middle of the room). Otherwise, the paint tends to drip when poured to make the students paint pallets. The paint drips get into the bin and on the art booklets. 3). Keep the dry paper in one zipped bag and the wet plates and cups in the other zipped bag. 4). Please keep the oil and chalk pastels in their bins. Bring both the grade-level art bin and pastel bin to the classroom. Again make 2 trips, have a volunteer help you, or use one of the carts that are in the workroom. 5). When using pastels, just open the pastel containers and lay them out like a buffet, with the empty boxes next to the buffet. Have the students first draw their creations. When the students are ready to color, have the students grab a tray and the color pastels that they would like to use from the containers. When the students are finished, have the students return the colors back to the corresponding boxes and return the trays, too. The kids do most of the work and like doing it too! 6). Make sure the lids of the pastel boxes "snap" closed all the way around. Some volunteer accidentally tossed all of the boxes into the bin, and the lids of some of them opened. It wasn't a lot of fun separating the colors afterwards. 7). Do NOT use art paper as practice paper. There is just enough cut and prepared for all the students of that grade-level. Use copy paper or have the students use notebook paper. 8). Please remember to have the students return the sharpies, especially the ultra-thin sharpies - they are really expensive. 9). Make sure the music CD is returned to the jewel-box and placed back in the bin. 10). If the sink is going to be used, please be sure to move papers away from the sink area so that they don’t get wet. Students don’t really think about this and school works gets soaked. 11). If paint was used, the sink and counters need to be cleaned and wiped dry. 12). Rinse the brushes in cold water. Place the brushes with the brush tips up. 13). Ask the teacher if s/he would like to store the artwork or send it home monthly. If stored, have someone on the art team make folders with construction paper and label them. These folders can be stored on top of the classroom cubbies. 14). Please label the student's artwork with the labels provided in the manila envelopes. 15). We would love to re-use your pictures and samples you used during your presentation! If you are comfortable with that idea, please leave in the bin. 16). Please provide feedback so that we can keep improving the artworks program.
