Association of Friends (PTA) of St Saviour’s NEWSLETTER NO 8 – WEDNESDAY 9TH FEBRUARY 2011 A Wonderful Treat for the Children! London Zoo have been bringing in some of HELLO THERE! their exotic animals to school this week for all the children to see & touch! This was as a result of a suggestion made by a parent at the Friends’ meeting in January & which we agreed to fund. We’re absolutely thrilled the children are benefitting from this so soon and we're sure they’ll gain loads. Let us know what they thought of it all. We had a really good turn out at the Friends’ forward planning meeting on Friday. Thanks to all who attended or sent their apologies. The knotty subject of communication came to the fore once more which has prompted us to highlight where you can keep informed on all matters to do with the Friends. Newsletters – these are produced every 3-4 weeks and are circulated via book bags. They are also emailed to class reps for electronic distribution and in the near future will be posted in the Friends’ section of the school website www.stsavioursealing.net. At the bottom of every page of the newsletter you will find the school’s website address, the Friends’ email address, our charity number & NCPTA number. . Our Burns’ Night Celebration… was nothing short of a triumph! Sixty-five parents, teachers and governors came along to enjoy the fun, and enjoy the fun they did. The “Address to the Haggis” performed by Alex Johnson (1LS) was just superb and Merrick, the Piper, wasn’t the only one smiling when Alex lifted his kilt to borrow his Sghian Dubh! (And before you ask… it’s the dress knife he keeps in his sock!) The feedback on the whole event has been amazing and praise from the school unparalleled. The food was delicious, the room enchanting and the evening ran like clockwork. Everyone joined in the dancing and the only complaint was of face ache from all the laughter! It was great value and, thanks to your support and that of our generous sponsors, we still managed to raise lots of funds – final figures aren’t in yet, but we hope the whole event will raise over £1000. Huge thanks to all of you who played a part – it was a great team effort. Photos of this wonderful occasion will be on display and for sale in the front playground this week – keep your eyes peeled! And don’t forget – if you have a cultural event you would like to celebrate with us – let us know. Notice Boards – we have 2 notice boards, both on the white wall to your right as you walk through the main gates. The latest newsletter is displayed here along with event posters and current pledges made by the Friends to the School. Website –www.stsavioursealing.net. Our Newsletters will soon be posted within the Friends’ section. The minutes from the last general meeting will also be posted here. These contain details of financial pledges made by the Friends to the School. Reminder e-mails for the forthcoming week are sent out to Committee & Class Reps each weekend for circulation.
