The Pawelski Weekly Update #11: Friday, March 7, 2014 News and Notices: THANK YOU!!! We had a lovely fieldtrip. Thanks to Aubrey’s sister Katie, Torin’s mom Lezlie, and Solen’s mom Karina (Birthday Celebration Too!!) for chaperoning our field trip to the Overture Center to hear Kenny Broad speak about his underwater exploring in Blue Holes in the Bahamas. Celebration!! We had almost $90 donated to the Swaziland Book Drive project from our students’ spare change and savings. We won the school Penny Drive and Mrs. Sheila, Girl Scout Leader in charge of the program, donated 2 boxes of Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies to our class to enjoy. Please attend our all school “Rainbow Celebration” beginning at 9 AM on Thursday, March 13th. Our class will be performing at SHARE in the Auditorium between 1:452:15 PM. We are earning this whole day celebration and we will wear colorful clothing and have some surprises. If you are planning to attend, that would be lovely! You don’t have to RSVP; just sign in at the office and join us in the classroom for the day. I’d highly recommend attending the school-wide SHARE assembly if you are able. Spring Break is April 14-21. School resumes on April 22nd. VIP (Very Important Person) Sharing has begun. Students will tell you about it, but they can bring in non-expensive/precious things that tell about themselves. They also may bring an adult(s), treat, anything they choose that is appropriate. I don’t have special paperwork filled out for kids to bring in animals at this time. Questions, contact me. The times for the sharing are 9:05-9:25 A.M. A huge thanks to Mrs. Niva (Michael’s mom) for helping us set up this free program for our students to get more engaged in their math learning. Literacy Biographies-Someone alive or deceased who changed the world for the better, continued reading with expression and enthusiasm, making predictions based on features of a text, correcting grammar on our “Pink Daily Oral Language” worksheets, creating Aleecia’s birthday book, and writing letters to our friends in Swaziland to accompany the books for the book drive.
