to assess student learning/ comprehension. Quizzes will address
standards being covered throughout class. Quizzes can be
retaken to increase scores only once and must be completed
before the unit test.
*Tests: There will be one unit test, covering many (but not all)
standards covered in the unit. Each test will be broken into
different standards, graded according to the descriptions at the
top of the test. Each individual standard grade will be entered
into the gradebook separately. Tests may not be retaken.
Attendance:
*BE IN CLASS! You miss out on important information and
examples if you are absent. It can be hard to catch up in math if
you fall behind.
*YOU are responsible for making up all work that you missed
including notes, homework, quizzes, and/or tests.
Homework Practice:
*Homework: Homework will be given in the form of a packet.
Each packet will have sample problems based on the standards
learned during class. The homework will not be graded, but
will be reviewed during class to ensure understanding of the
concepts. It will be highly beneficial to complete the
homework for extra practice before an assessment.
** I suggest you work through the packet as we cover the
topics through class examples/discussions.
Projects:
*Projects: There will be one major project per unit. These
projects are worth 20% of your overall grade and are based off
the topics covered in the unit. Most projects will be completed
individually, unless otherwise stated.
Classwork/ Participation:
*Classwork: Each day of class is worth 5 points. These 5 points
are awarded for being prepared for class (bringing materials—
pencils, book, notebook, etc.) and actively participating during
class activities. You will lose your classwork points for the day
for having to go to your locker for supplies, for being tardy,
and/or for not actively participating in the day’s activities.
*Active participation is expected during all class sessions. This
means asking questions, working when given work time, and
conducting yourself in an appropriate manner.

Make Up Work and Help Outside of Class:
*Make up homework/lessons: If you miss a lesson it is your
responsibility to attain the material for that day(s). I will not
hunt you down to tell you what we did.
*Make up quizzes and tests: You should schedule a time with
me to make up your work. All tests and quizzes should be
made up no later than one week after the date the original was
given.
*I will be available each morning from 7:45- 8:15, during
lunch, and after school until 3:30. If these times do not work,
please see me and we will work something out.
Cheating/Plagarism:
*Cheating and plagiarism will NOT be accepted! Any
homework, project, quiz or test which has been falsely
completed will receive a zero and the owner of that paper will
receive a 30- minute detention as well as a trip to Mr.
Urbanek’s office.
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead
where there is no path and leave a trail.
