PLUMPTON COLLEGE JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Lecturer in Maths Department: Teaching and Learning Development Responsible to: Teaching and Learning Development Manager Salary: Salary within the range £25,121 to £29,030 per annum Pro rata for hours worked (point 23 to point 28 on the Plumpton College pay scale) Job Status: Permanent Job Purpose: To teach Maths at all levels (GCSE and Functional Skills). To co-ordinate the registration, initial assessment and tracking of students. Main Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Support departments to ensure that students undertake initial assessment in Maths. 2. Support departments to ensure that students are registered for the correct Functional Skills/GCSE qualifications. 3. Teach as directed, and achieve a quality of teaching and learning defined as ‘Good’ as recognised by the College observation process. 4. Co-ordinate the tracking of all students’ progress during the year. 5. Manage student learning as directed by the Teaching and Learning Development Manager and the Deputy Principal. 6. Participate as a member of appropriate programme teams and attend meetings as requested. 7. Take registers for all classes taught and ensure that tutors are aware of absences. 8. In line with College Quality Assurance guidelines, to prepare and maintain schemes of work, records of work, module assessment programmes and records. Also provide feedback to students and information for termly reports for all students taught. 9. Liaise with administration staff regarding the preparation and up to date maintenance of relevant Programme Files. 10. Adhere to the College Safety Policy, ensuring that appropriate safety standards are maintained during all College activities. 11. By participating in and contributing to activities involving recruitment and selection of students as well as marketing and promotional activities on behalf of the College. By maintaining effective communication with other staff including attendance at department and other meetings. By undertaking the role of Internal Verifier for Functional Skills/GCSEs. To manage regular meetings with other tutors to review progress. To develop new curriculum in response to student need and government targets. document1 12. Acquire and maintain professional knowledge, understanding and skills to meet the required standards. 13. Participate in an annual appraisal of performance as laid down in the agreed guidelines. 14. Undertake staff development appropriate to the needs of the College, department and that identified by the appraisal process. 15.
