Raw and Living Food

By Judy Barker, ISIS, Rockwell, Makati

February 19, 2011

1.

Judy wrote a book “Good Question. The Art of Asking Questions for Positive Change”. “Life coaching” has brought her to the Philippines.

2.

Judy was/is a Waldorf teacher in Scotland. She stumbled upon Waldorf while she and her “magic

7” friends were brought to natural healing. Doctors in those days just remove a part of the body that gives the symptoms, thus her thyroid gland was removed. Imagine how reductionist this approach can be, not realizing that glands operate in concert.

3.

Milk is one of those that give us health problems; this is referring to pasteurized and homogenized milk. The former yields plastic like substance; the latter leads to smaller particles of milk, or also to changed structure of substance.

4.

In Judy’s time and place flour grinding was by hand, using stones. Grinding is also in a way cooking, and esp. when using those big machines where considerable heat is generated.

5.

Cooked food is broken down food; there’s not much life anymore to it. And with this we need to do less chewing already. We do need to chew our food to give life, etc. to it.

6.

There is a difference… Raw food faddists are considered as those who embark on food war with no scientific knowledge. Juicers (machines) differ too. The common ones lead to oxidized food.

Time and air enhance oxidation and free radical formation. Free radicals are those little molecules spinning and are hungry to attach to other molecules, esp. essential substances:

DNAs, proteins (enzymes, membranes, etc).

7.

As a child Judy had lots of good food except… that they had pudding in almost every meal, and bread as well! These, according to her, were probably major factors in her tonsils problem.

Understandably, she developed a distrust of medical doctors.

8.

Drug companies are with doctors, and these companies purposely separate nature from drugs.

9.

It is good that the audience (in attendance) are at least curious about raw food. It is a good start. Ten years from now maybe they’ll know more than us now. It is essential to listen to your body.

10.

Here we have sprouted mungbean, lentils, radish, broccoli, mustard, wheat grass. DID YOU

KNOW THAT BROCOLI is the best cancer food?

11.

All of the above plants fit with our prescription medicine. They correspond to (or also heal) what modern medicines try to heal… and if you are taking those nature medicines mentioned above, you won’t have contraindication.

12.

Gluten: many are allergic to it. That chewy part of wheat grass – the seed – contains gluten, so don’t include seed in harvesting wheat grass. Also may harvest when the sprout is about 8 days old (?) or 8 in. high (?).

13.

Sunflower and pea seeds have 10-20x more nourishment when eaten as sprouts than as seeds.

You get more nutrients per unit weight. The length of sprout differs with seed kind and intended use. Mungbean are good harvested when at 6-8 in. long.

WHEAT GRASS JUICE

14.

Judy’s suggested and own drink first thing in the morning: ripe lemon juice (or kalamansi) with water. One needs to drink plenty of water in the morning.

15.

Some minutes later, Judy drinks wheat grass juice. This is good for detox, healing and nourishment. Pure wheat grass is alkaline. Don’t mix it with orange or other citrus as it would become acidic in the body. The bigger shot glass is used as measure.

16.

Alkaline lunch then follows. This is what the group will have/experience today. Another shot of wheat grass juice is taken in the afternoon. The participants here will experience wheat grass then green juice drink, then lunch, then dessert (raw).

17.

A car (or any) battery runs because of the negative and positive charge. Electricity is a product of these charges. Our body is also electrical. The different parts of it communicate with each other constantly. We need the right balance of alkaline and acid for good health.

18.

When our body is out of balance it becomes diseased (ill). All disease results from being too acidic.

19.

Pizza, pasta, noodles, and bread, are acidic; rice is also a bit acidic. Eat fruit 3x a week. Don’t just stop eating the way you used to do when you start raw, without starting with alkalizing veges.

Fruit consumption is being reduced because the sugar of an alkaline fruit still becomes acid in the body. This is also true with honey.

20.

The magazine of “Hippocrates” (Healing our World) may be given to you free. Just write your email addresses in the registration form.

21.

In 2007 I felt not well; I was very exhausted. My taste buds were just tired. I did not have appetite. I was introduced to a raw food – the raw chocolate. Indeed with it I felt a surge of energy and was feeling good… for a while. After several months, however, my tummy felt queasy; it was the caffeine! Later I learned too that rat feces are found in roasted chocolate (the commercial one) so the production system of chocolate is not so clean after all.

22.

When I do my demo (like in a house setting) I prefer that the classroom is near the kitchen.

Hygiene is important. Food handlers need to have clean hands (need to wash, wash hands).

Also cooled boiled water is important (in eating raw) to wash veges. Water can carry germs. The vegetables also may harbor germs. Chinese cabbage must be soaked longer or 15 min after

leaves are separated from the whorl/bunch. Ozone treatment of water by the way does not kill the bacteria.

23.

Clean hands are absolute in raw food preparation. Otherwise one may feel ill and think that it is due to raw food, when in fact it is due to germs!

24.

Arthur’s juicer is good: auger (no heat produced) and confined space (less air). Homogenizing

(blender) actually whips a lot of air and renders food hot as well. Remember that raw food should not have undergone heating beyond 40-45C.

25.

The pulp of wheat can be used in many other ways like as body scrub (skin conditioner), for toothache, wounds in people and even pets! (this was shared by several people).

26.

Some fruits are acidic. Need to study: rice grass and other grasses in lieu of wheat grass (?).

27.

Know the optimum amount of wheat grass juice to take. Two ounces (no more) on an empty stomach would be enough. If not, or if more is taken?, absorption will be slow.

28.

We need fast absorption. Don’t mix vegetable juices, or system will be confused. Pavlov’s experiment with bell and food helps to train someone to eat/drink something unlikeable. It makes one looks at something eventually beautiful and rewarding. (Training to eat food needs to be done one food at a time).

29.

Why wheat grass? The sun is linked to chlorophyll in grass (plants), and to the cows that eat the grass. Thus, the sun is in the grass; in wheat grass.

30.

Judy read from a book the advantages of wheat grass… purifies blood detoxes the liver,

cleanses the colon, nourishes the cell/body, energizes.

31.

Thus, wheat grass is energizer. You see, coffee is energizing, but it takes something out of the body too. Fresh wheat grass is electrically charged, but those in sachets are not anymore. If fresh is unavailable you are better off taking the fresh cucumber juice. Wheat grass is also easily assimilated, aids in digestion and releases excess fat.

32.

Sprouting gadget may or may not have lid with holes (the latter is easier for drainage). Compost substrate for seed is good to use (make sure it is organic).

33.

Sweetness of wheat grass juice is innate but this also varies with different varieties of wheat grass. Arthur has done seed selection for this trait. He says 8 in. or 8 days old (depending on temperature) is best. If you need to harvest before use, and you want to avoid getting them too long, just cut and keep the grass in the refrigerator. They won’t rot because they are still alive; something else is still going on in the tissues.

34.

Catch the sprouts at that “something wanting to form” stage, not later when it is already a

“formed” seedling. For seed sprouts soak for about 2 days, rinse and rinse. If you started

Thursday, may use them around lunch time Saturday. Just keep wet or in water so they continue to be growing until lunch.

35.

Seed sprouts are ready when their radicles or roots have just come out. Put them in a canister with top that is with holes (sieve-effect) so can just easily pour out the water and keep the sprouts in.

36.

You may use many kinds of seeds to sprouts but avoid kidney beans; they are considered toxic in

Hippocrates modality. What is being shown here are “adzuki” bean, mungbean, radish, mustard, clover, alfalfa, lentils, broccoli, buckwheat (for this last one let grow for only until radicle is out or within 24 hrs from soaking).

37.

Rinse the sprouts 3x before use. For tabouleh, may use raw wheat seed instead. The sprouting trays of Arthur can accommodate 150g seeds/tray.

38.

Soak the seeds then put in trays with dark cover until approximately 2.5 in long. Then keep out where there is diffused light. Good if one can use a shelf so can save space. May also use a house spray to water.

39.

Judy continued reading the book. Wheat grass releases excess fat, removes unwanted bacteria and malignant cells, alkalizes, reduces oxidation, balances pH, enhances circulation, is an antioxidant, addresses gastro-intestinal problems (including constipation and diarrhea) is anti-

aging, and repairs DNA. The dried powdered one has already been exposed to air, thus not good.

GREEN JUICE

40.

To make green juice, use…

½ cucumber with skin

1 bunch celery (fresh; if limp, rehydrate first)

Other greens

Carrot leaves (1)

Beet leaves (1)

SAVE THESE LEAVES! THEY ARE REAL SUPER FOOD. BUT not all leaves are okay. Alugbati must be

cooked to release the cyanide (do more research on this; Pam eats some of this raw)

41.

Juicers – Brands and Prices

P3,500 or P12,500 if electric

Greenstar double auger single auger single auger single auger double auger

42.

DRINK A GLASS 3X A DAY. Judy drinks wheat grass then later lemon juice then veggie or green juice.

43.

Steiner talked of “warmth” nutrition. In the Philippines you don’t need much of warmth nutrition because it is already naturally warm here. It is ok to store veges in the ref for a day before juicing… that’s good enough. But if ill, better use fresh. Carrot and beet root– avoid because these have lots of sugar. Use their leaves instead.

44.

Fruits don’t digest well with veges.

45.

Stress makes body ACIDIC!

46.

Sweet potato is better than potato. The eyes and the green part of potato can be toxic. Potato is a member of nightshade family. So are tomato, eggplant, and pepper. Okra too(?) is not favorable.

47.

There is a high correlation between kids that are hydrocephalic and eating green potato during pregnancy. Make pasta from sweet potato instead. The leaves of sweet potato are very good.

48.

The 2 screws or auger-type work better but “Green star” has too many parts. “Angel” is all metal and extracts more. “Felix” (being used in the demo) is like Arthur’s manual extractor; also Felix.

49.

The metal one should be ok because it is of stainless steel. It lasts for a long time and doesn’t get rusty. (But Arthur stopped selling this kind)

50.

“Lexen” seems not to extract much juice. “Matstone” and “Oscar” are similar, while “Norwalk” is more fussy and slower.

BREAK (Pam missed the intro part; was out)

51.

Judy showed Vitamix food process which is available at ISIP. It is sold by Melanie Go for

P______??.

52.

If we use a blender the fiber in juice is still to be processed by our digestive so blendered juice taken after a meal will give our tummy no rest. This “sludge” will get deposited in our system??.

53.

Blendered food on the other hand, and not juice, would have been ok, but by the nature of the machine we expose the substance to lots of oxygen. But if we put water instead to address this, then we unfavorably dilute the juice.

54.

Avocado and fruit (like mango, etc.) may be blundered at 1:1 ratio. This is good for vanilla custard or flan.

55.

Stir-fry like dish (no cooking). Make julienne slices of carrot, sweet potato (soak this first), cucumber. The process is like pasta making.

56.

Use organic black sesame. It has enzyme inhibitors on the coat that renders itself dormant. All nuts and seeds must be soaked first. Smaller seeds like sesame need only short soaking time.

For our purpose, just approx. 2 hrs before we eat it. Sesame is a good calcium source.

57.

Other ingredients for main lunch food: raw sprouts (toge), Chinese cabbage, anise, star anise, ginger, cinnamon, 5-spice, cloves, raw onion (use less because very potent). Dehydrated soaked or sprouted pili (in < 47 C dehydrator), olive oil that’s cold pressed, sesame oil (also raw or cold pressed).

58.

Note: coconut is solid fat; it’s good for women’s physiology but solidifies easily. (see appendices for pro coconut discussion).

59.

Issue: olive oil may be mixed with 40% sunflower oil (this is now allowed in European law). Also there are other reports that olive oil is not really good for health. (need verify this)

60.

Cayenne pepper is kinder to our system than chili pepper. Use it more instead.

61.

Use tamari or a kind of fermented soybean. But soybean tends to be an animal hormone in behavior so need to ferment first. A substitute for soy milk would be milk from hemp, rice, and almond.

62.

You can put turmeric. May use Himalayan salt but not too much. Use liquid amino or tamari, or

“under-salt”. Just put salt shaker on the table to adjust individual taste.

63.

Finally, after mixing put zucchini noodles (delay so as not to get watery) and the presoaked sesame.

DRESSINGS

64.

We make 2 dressings, using Vitamix. Replace vinaigrette with lemon because the former is acidic.

Use:

65.

Mustard, garlic, cayenne pepper (black pepper is irritant to stomach and intestine), olive oil (1 c), water

66.

Carrot & coriander (or oregano) grated, oil, salt, kalamansi, water

67.

If you feel hungry, drink water first. It is the same feeling as when thirsty and adults are less able to discern this than kids.

68.

Use untoasted nori wrap (raw, dried). We also need vegetables from the sea. It is good for detox. In Sweden workers are given seaweed daily for their health.

69.

Mix in seedlings and sprouts. Use 2-leaf stage sunflower seedling, julienned carrots, pepper, and avocado; may use water cress also. Peppers shouldn’t be green. It is a fruit so it is mostly not used. Green takes something from, rather than give you something.

70.

Roll sprouts and other prepared veges on nori wrap. Lettuce leaf can be a substitute wrap. May use sesame oil and soy sauce to flavor.

71.

The main menu is sprouts. Corn sprouts (leaves) may be used too.

72.

A spicy hot dressing may use cayenne. Note that common wasabi has artificial color.

ENJOY LUNCH…bonus: Sampaloc juice with kalamansi was served at ISIP. Nice.

73.

You may opt to attend a 3-week Life Change Program, or a 6-week one to become a Hippocrates

Health Educator. You’ll experience (learn to do) colonic hydrotherapy, enemas, life blood analysis, plus conventional blood test. A blood cell spins but can become sticky and clump together and can’t spin well when unhealthy. An acidic blood can’t be independent so cells stick together.

74.

I can give or you may also receive from me Skype advice/consultation, talk therapy and supplements from dried vegetables

75.

Our order of preference of the juice extractor is:

1) Angel

2) Oscar

3) Matstone

4) Lexen

5) Norwalk

76.

Judy’s food order (schedule) of the day

 wheat grass

 green juice

 sprouts, nuts and seeds

 sea vegetables (dry them; essential to have if there is no fish in the diet; fish has lots of issues: heavy metals)

 fermented food (a must daily)

Q&A, OTHER POINTS

77.

When you do kimchi, use cayenne as it is less hot; make your own.

78.

Kafir is more watery than yoghurt. Almond may be used too, as milk or yoghurt (Arthur has this).

Add to the “food order of the day”: Bee pollen, green veggie, other veggies, grains, fruits.

79.

Our usual vegetable fruit is green or unripe. But we must strive to eat the more ripe ones.

Restrict also the use of those belonging to nightshade family; except for red capsicum. Tomato thus, is not so encouraged.

80.

Having those very ripe fruit in season is a treat. Have treats every now and then. Binge but don’t have guilt, which is bad for our health.

81.

On the question of mushroom… there is a correlation between mushroom and cancer. That is also why cancer cells are injected with bicarbonate or soda. They are acidic thus are neutralized by soda (alkaline).

82.

Edible flowers include nasturtium, and pansies. Blossoms of usual vegetables are also edible, even that of ginger and garlic.

83.

Make use of special plants like stevia and cinnamon. They are natural flavor enhancers.

84.

Cashew… maybe what you get are truly not raw but steamed? Eat sunflower and pumpkin seeds raw.

85.

Take hot tea but not boiled. Hemp seed meal is good. Flax seed is also good esp. for digestion.

86.

Don’t take white sugar. Some brown sugar are brown, but only because they are dyed. Honey is best when raw. Wild one is very good, too.

87.

Yacon syrup is best when raw. It’s good for diabetic; but it is really not as good a digestive as honey (?). Agave syrup is also not better than honey and is expensive! Pesticide use is implicated in this.

88.

It is of value to appreciate honey because of the bee issue. We must take care of the bees. They are dying everywhere and this has great impact on our crop production.

89.

Stevia supports sugar metabolism. It would only be a mild health food when it comes in powder leaf form.

90.

Kalamansi, water, stevia are good “lemonade” ingredients.

91.

Raw cacao is high in caffeine still, though many claim it is good food (even quantum food). It is a substitute for marijuana when one is out of it (stock).

92.

Arthur’s macadamia with yacon syrup. The nuts that he brough here and sells are all raw. Yacon has inulin, a “prebiotic”.

93.

Shelled hemp seeds are high in protein (Judy’s staple). Soak the seed then add stevia.

94.

Nutritional yeast are not really raw. They are in Arthur’s pili nut? Arthur’s almonds are also soaked and dehydrated.

95.

Other good food: dry carrots, cinnamon, nuts, flaxseed and fruit like banana or dates (they are good sweeteners).

96.

“Mila” the miracle seed (Chia) – is the product or brand of Judy’s staple esp. when traveling. It is not only rich in protein but also is gluten-free, high in Vit C and has something equivalent to fish oil (thus no need to kill fish for it).

97.

Vegan food has thus lots of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, but more of 6 than 3.

98.

What about eating according to metabolic type? This becomes a non-issue with raw food diet.

99.

Raw oat is “warming” so is good in a cool climate. To cook, put in water, then put on top of stove and stir with finger. When heat becomes unbearable, that’s the time to stop.

100.

You may request back copies of Hippocrates magazine and you’ll also get your free subscription for attending the workshop.

RAW DESSERT MAKING

101.

Ice cream making using frozen fresh fruit and “Matstone” food processor… Yummy! “Angel” is not an ice cream maker. Freeze fruits well then feed into the machine.

Post script:

Ursula’s comment on wheat grass and acidity: the wheat grass, I used all kinds of greens, the

Boutenkos even take thistles, whole, and put them in a blender with fruits as green smoothie.

Sergej said that lettuces came from the thistle plant… And for me, I think that food isn't acidic, it is the fact that cooked food, and more so grains, can't be digested well, so the wise body sends acid to get rid of what stays too long in the stomach. Acid crystals, as seen in life blood analysis are sharp, so the body wraps the crystals with fat, specially acid from sugar, and that is why many women have this 'salvabida' (swimming tube) around the hips.... Once you detox and eat raw, the acid goes, and the fat too!!!

Ursula H Schloer ’s posting 28. Feb 2011:

vco and anything coconut is just so great, and that is mssing from the raw food of many, i have a friend who has white hair since 20 years, and now after putting a little coconut oil in his hair every day, his hair starts to grow black, and there are some doctors whose husband had alzheimers, they cured it with coconut....have you heard of the boy in Cebu who was autistic? his mom gave him

3 spoons of coconut a day and he became normal. And what I suspect is that the citric acid which is used in drinks and candies, which is made of black mold (check this out, it is true) causes aluminum and lead to go directly in the brain....and then there is a possibility that candida in mothers also can cause problems in the brains of children. all that is taken away by coconut, the best brain food, immune stabilizer and high energy food, 300 hertz when measured by a spectrometer, I was told by a micro biologist from

Davao, she worked with Dole. And did you know that the coconut tree takes traces of gold from the air? 3 trees do that, dates, coconut and pili nut....

Appendix 1. About Judy, and Raw and Living Food

Changing to Raw Food

At the beginning of 2008 I was somewhat under the weather for various reasons although I’d been eating what I thought was a very healthy balanced diet for years. I decided I had more changes to make. I stumbled into the world of raw foods, a way of eating plant foods that are mainly or entirely raw.

I explored further and found ‘Raw and Living Foods’. The added dimension here is soaking and sprouting seeds, nuts, grains, lentils and some beans. When soaked, nuts and seeds are easier to digest. When sprouted, seeds, lentils, some beans and grains change so that they are many times more nutritious. Once you know about this, why not make these foods central?

In my enthusiasm I went to the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida in spring 2008 and trained as a

Hippocrates Health Educator.

Very nice it was too, warm sunny, lovely people from all round the world and buffet banquets that I didn’t have to cook!! It was magic watching many people getting better in a short time, some from very serious illnesses, and gaining in strength, energy and positivity.

At Home

I have carried on with what I learned at Hippocrates, growing wheatgrass for juicing, juicing vegetables, sprouting foods, learning to make delicious raw meals that are at least as interesting and varied as any cooked food and making up my own recipes.

What I am up to

I share skills and food with others at Raw Food potluck ‘meetup ’ groups, talks and workshops. I keep reading and talking to people and I’m and working towards a book on wellness, which is about Raw and Living food and related aspects of all-round wellness.

Life changes

People who make these food changes often find that along with changes in their health – and many can recover from illness, achieve their ideal weight, gain much more energy and generally feel much more at ease in their bodies – their whole lives have to change. They may start to connect, or reconnect, with important visions of what they really want their lives to be about. It may be time to get beyond obstacles such as fear in order to go forward in the best possible way.

Relationships, occupation, how and where you live, values, goals… many aspects of life may need updating.

That’s why I now have my raw and living food offerings on this site along with my personal development work. You can pick and choose to find what is important to you.

I offer:

Appendix 2.

Some Recipes from Judy

Red pepper corn chips

500gms raw sweetcorn scraped from fresh corn cobs. failing that, you can get away with frozen but not cooked sweetcorn but it’s not as vital of course.

I red pointed sweet pepper or red capsicum, roughly chopped(minus seeds)

1/2 cup freshly ground flax

1 tablespoon cold pressed olive oil

3 tablespoons tamari or nama shoyu soy sauce pinch cayenne pepper small bunch fresh basil.

Process all except the flax till grainy in texture. Add the flax seeds and pulse till mixed in. It might not seem salty but it will be quite tasty enough once the chips dry out. Spread thinly on two or three silicone sheets on dehydrator trays. Mark lightly into large triangles(they shrink) with a blunt knife. Dehydrate for a couple of hours till starting to dry out. Always keep the temperature of the dehydrator below 47oc/117of so as not to damage the enzymes and other nutrients. Flip the silicone sheets over and peel them off, leaving the corn chips on the mesh sheets on the dehydrator trays. Put them back in the dehydrator to dry out over night or all day, till completely crisp. Store in an airtight tin – usually not for very long I find…

Sunflower seed and chive dip

I bunch finely chopped chives

I cup sunflower seeds soaked overnight, plus left to sprout for a day if you have time. a pinch cayenne pepper

8 green pitted olives

Juice of 1/2 ripe lemon

Himalayan salt or celtic sea salt to taste

2 tablespoons cold pressed olive oil

1/2 avocado

Process all ingredients except olives, chives and avocado. Add avocado and process till smooth and thickened. Add olives and process briefly so that there are still little pieces. If you wish add more olives to taste and process again. Turn the mixture into a mixing bowl and stir in most of the chives. adjust seasonings with salt and lemon juice if necessary, but it’s always best to undersalt. Serve garnished with the rest of the chopped chives.

RICH VANILLA CUSTARD

I cup cashew nuts

1 cup walnuts

1/2 cup raw agave syrup seeds scraped from a vanilla pod a pinch of salt

1/2 cup cold-pressed coconut oil

1/2 an avocado (really) a just-ripe but not over-ripe one, chopped

I cup water

Soak the nuts in cool water for a few hours(overnight is ideal) and drain them. If the walnuts still taste slightly bitter, soak and rinse again. Blend the soaked nuts with the cup of water, the coconut oil, salt and agave until very smooth. It doesn't matter if the coconut oil is in solid lumps to start with because the motion of the blender will warm it just enough to melt it. When you have a thin smooth cream blend in the avocado until all is creamy and smooth. The avocado adds that extra-smooth custardyness. Keep at room temperature to serve poured over the fruit salad.

Raw Curry

I don't have a photo of this yet but it looks like, well, a dryish curry. It's more of a concept than a recipe and if you have a dehydrator it is very easy. Or if you have an Aga stove you can try making it in a wide dish on a folded tea towel on one of the big round Aga lids.

Curry is one of the kinds of cooked foods I love most so inventing raw curries that taste relatively unsalad-like is therapeutic. Even though I'm usually happy with meals of sprouts and salads I like variety and to serve up enticing dishes to friends.

The two component parts are a big bowl full of finely sliced vegetables and a sauce to stir in.

For the vegetables I just zapped them all through my food processor with the slicing disk. I used a whole red onion, a head of broccoli, a bag of spinach and a chunk of cabbage.

For the sauce I used about three tablespoons of olive or sesame oil – cold pressed organic of course – roughly the same amount of tamari/nama shoyu, a heaped teaspoon of my favourite curry powder (a

Southern Indian one)a little crushed garlic and a big squeeze of lemon. Stir it up and taste it. Because it's raw it already tastes roughly as it will when done, so you can adjust the seasonings at this point. Then stir the sauce into the veggies and taste again. You don't need to over-season as the curry will shrink down as it dries and this will concentrate the curry flavours somewhat. Then spread the mixture out on deydrator sheets. The above ingredients covered two trays of my Excalibur dehydrator.

Set the dehydrator to approximately 118 degrees fahrenheit (or cross your fingers and hope for the best in the Aga method) and leave for several hours until it has shrunk down a bit but is not dried out. The vegetables should still be juicy on the inside, except the spinach which almost melts in with the oil, and dryer on the outside but not turned to leather.

Serve it up still warm.

It's nice with a spicy raw dip or sauce … and of course, as always with me, served with plenty of sprouts.

I haven't tested exact quantities with this yet as you can tell, and I'll be very interested in how you get on if you try it. It might sound complicated but once you get the hang of it it's a doddle. And it's a curry – ta daa!

Appendix 3. Reviews on Judy’s book Good Question…”.

"Judy, what a great vision you had to bring together so many experts in the field of Personal

Development. Such a wealth of experience, skills and knowledge to share their "powerful questions" with the rest of us.

Each chapter has some great ideas, tips and tools that can be used on a personal level as well as in the business of Coaching / People Development. In fact whilst reading the book, I had to keep putting it down and take time out to answer the questions!

Two questions in particular really struck a chord with me at this moment in time; "What Needs to be done Now?" by Mark Forster, helped me to clarify some areas where I was feeling a bit stuck and helped me to find a way to move forward, and the “Miracle Question” by Jamie Smart, was brilliant in helping me visualise my aims for my new business and the impact of that on my life.

I love that question! But these are just two of the many powerful questions in the book that we can ask ourselves and others. The book is well written and well put together. Judy thanks for this great addition to my Personal and Coaching Toolkit."

*****

Judy Barber’s anthology is a penetrating and enjoyable look at the whole arena of contemporary practical issues in personal and organisational development. Her introduction and overview allows the reader to quickly grasp the variety of the authors and their approaches presenting their skills, experiences and wisdom in their colourful and diverse styles.

Unlike some anthologies this is very accessible. You can pick what stands out or seems most relevant without having first to wade through much other material or worse, loosing the context of the whole idea behind Good Question!. I went straight to part eight: as adult tutor in the visual arts I frequently have to introduce people to new and sometimes challenging concepts and ways of working. By asking the right questions and letting the learners or audience open up unexplored territory from the safety and heart of their personal experiences rather than my “expertise”, again and again we discover unexpected and surprising themes and new ground – I am therefore also always a learner.

Particularly relevant to my work was ‘What wants to manifest?’ by Aboodi Shabi where he describes the contemporary dilemma of needing to have everything and everyone “fixed” - often before the right questions have been heard or asked. Aboodi is a passionate believer in the “soul wanting to be heard”, a rare sentiment I often have to battle for myself; surrounded by studios and students buzzing with digital-media bytes invading and obstructing every available minute and scene of the day. Well, done

Judy!

A fantastic, very readable, satisfying and challenging collection that will have to replace my ‘notepad’.”

RAW FOOD WITH URSULA SCHLOER AZNAR

Following is some notes based on a class held at Cansojong,Talisay on May 24; attended by Lily, Grace, Susana,

Rina, Minda, gay and Pam; any addition or correction is much welcome to help improve the material.

Basic or common Ingredients:

 ripe kulo (rimas) or saba (plantain)…gives the needed texture and flavor coconut meat…in the form of flakes (unextracted), sapal (grated extracted), gata (runny and watery), cream

 refrigerated coconut milk (plain and just hardened for 1,2, or 3 days coconut nectar or honey (unpasteurized/unheated); muscovadois ok if more natural unprocessed ones not available; unprocessed dates also good.

Carrot sapal

 fresh fruits (lychee, mango, avocado, banana, papaya, etc.)

 kalamansi (lemonsito)

 black pepper, ginger, garlic, onion

 herbs: oregano, basil, rosemary, dill

 temperate salad veges

 local/tropical veges

Other Ingredients:

 papaya seeds (dried) as substitute for wasabi

 young coconut meat (buko)

 kefir culture (if none, use yogurt culture)

 ginger, chilli leaves

 salt

Sample Preparations:

1) HARDENED CREAM

Put gata in the ref for 1, 2 or 3 days for different consistency or degree of hardness and creaminess.

This will be used in adding to various preparations.

2) COCONUT CHEESE

As in hardened cream but add kefir or yogurt culture into the gata and incubate in ref for 2-3 days.

3) RAW COOKIES may use raw cocoa. need dehydrator or sun-drying. sapal from juices (coconut, carrot) may be used.

4) PUREED FRUIT VEGE MIX

Rimas, fleshy fruit mix with dates or other sweetener; may also mix sapal of carrot. add hardened gata

5) GUACAMOLE

Avocado with ginger, tomato, garlic, oregano, basil, rimas, chili leaves, salt. add hard coconut cream.

Blender or food processor would be helpful to have.

6) SOUP

Broccoli, gata, water, black pepper, salt (other veges may be tried to replace or in addition to broccoli)

7) SALAD DRESSING fresh gata, hardened gata (to achieve desired consistency), black pepper, kalamansi (or vinegar), ground dried papaya seed; add into cup-up veges

8) CAKE mix or layer sapals (like coconut and carrot), pureed fruit mix, sweetener including banana, fresh gata. Then pour fresh gata on top and fruit puree for décor and taste

9) VEGETABLE JUICE.

Run veges through a food processor/juice extractor (decide if want it with the fiber or not).

Some of the sapals may be used for food preparation if not sent to the compost pit

10) BUKO JUICE AND MEAT may be used for any of the above (need more ideas here, pls)

Other Learning:

1) why raw food? our bodies need alive food for the nutrients and enzymes it needs. raw food gives also the needed life force, important for vitality and clear thinking and spiritual development (and discernment). Our food is our medicine. It is two sides of a coin.

2) Man before discovering fire was raw food eater. Grains are hard on the stomach. Even when cooked, the phytin (in grains) binds essential minerals and can inhibit enzymes. It robs the body of valuable nutrients and functions.

3) g rain sprouts and other seed sprouts on the other hand were part of early man’s diet and these are the best nutrients sources because substances are already degraded into absorbable and metabolizable forms.

4) Animals can also greatly benefit from raw food.

5) We used to be able to sense through our noses food or medicine from nature. That capacity is mostly lost through time. Animals have retained this sense. One need only to observe animals sniff or smell the different plants in the garden, esp. in the early morning. Sometimes what they eat are those that lead them to throw up, a form of detoxification.

6) Mangosteen – -the sap may be used as supplement. It is very high in xanthophyll, the dark red pigment and functions as an anti-oxidant. It is now being sold in the US in pellets as food supplement. To prepare, simply run the rind through an extractor, slice the pulp into little tablets and dry.

7) Vibration-- some plants have more vibration than others. Coconut has the highest (approx165). rose in onlyapprox 120. When worn, materials with high vibration can also increase the wearer’s vibration. This is also true when taken as food.

8) No food/drink people--there is agroup of people in Germany and other parts of Europe who no longer eat and drink. They subsist on light. If we recall we are composed of matter and energy and these two are interconvertible. Those people have tapped into their energies for subsistence. Their digestive organs are already atrophied for lack of use.

9) Pendulum for chakras and sex determination--one may use the pendulum for determining energy levels among others. It is interesting that the direction of rotation or swing of the pendulum alternate clockwise and counterclockwise as we move from one chakra to the next.

Moreover, males and females, regardless of gender preference, also move the pendulum one direction or the other, and consistent with the sex of the individual.

10) Marching in school--in Germany this is already removed as a form ofphysical exercise. It puts children in a fighting mode and implants aggression into their psyche. Other forms are installed, such as eurhythmy.

11) Music of oriental or indigenous peoples are more cosmic. The western one is linear and defined by the 8 notes (do, re, mi… do). The former goes in non -linear way and goes through kinks and loops.

12) Some people, like the clairvoyants can see lights, nature spirits and the like. Nature spirits are seen in our gardens. These beings may also be seen in the form of light. They have been seen enjoying and dancing to good wholesome music.

13) Water quality with music--An experiment was done in Japan on to differentiate water that had been given good music or talked to and another that had been given metal music or unpleasant words. The former formed beautiful water crystals as viewed under the microscope, while the other had broken chaotic crystals. Thus words and even thoughts do have effect on our wellbeing.

14) cave healing — indigenous peoples know how to heal themselves. Some seek the caves when sick. They stay there until they are well. There is great healing energy found there.

15) The minerals that compose our land surface have effect on us. Those People who live in high limestone area are in the absorbing mode, but their expression or action mode is weak. The latter relates to the will or action quotient. When the person moves away from that place and stay for example in an area that is predominantly granite, the will becomes more active

(awakened). New capacities are formed.

Appendix 6.

SIMPLE COCONUT SECRETS. By Ursula Schloer

Coconut cream. Coconut meat is grated and then pressed to get the cream. There are juicers with a spiral masticating devise which press out a thick cream. The usual traditional process is to squeeze the grated coconut by hand and add a little water to it before pressing. The grated nut mass can also be put in a blender with enough water to make it move, later just pour it through a strainer and let it stand in the refrigerator for a while, get the upper cream and use the lower thinner water for soups and other drinks.

I store ‘gata’ in different stages, the freshest is used for smoothies and fruit salads, also dressing, but it can be kept for up to 10 days or even more if well closed in a container. People think that once it ferments it cannot be used anymore and it caused diarrhea. Since coconut is good for cleansing an impure digestive system this will be the initial reaction, the lacto bacilli will clean the colon. There are even people whose body reacts after taking the fresh coconut milk, this will stop after the colon is cleansed.

It is best to buy fresh coconut every two days, then store some of it longer to make cheeses and spreads, you can mark the date on the container.

I always keep one container with grated coconut meat and put it over fruits and salad or munch on it. It is the most ideal fiber compared to grain.

Coconuts are sold in western countries, they are still good enough to make coconut cream, but it might be hard to grate the meat with an ordinary grater. In the Philippines they have machines in the markets and some supermarkets who grate the nuts and lately they also press the ‘gata’ with a simple machine-shop made press using a car jack. Some market booths sell the ‘gata’ by weight.

If there are no fresh coconut the last solution is coco-cream in cans or tetra packs.

We do not use cows milk and cream, as I always say, cows milk is for cows, not people. The molecules of the calcium of cow’s milk don’t fit the human system and cause deposits, milk also causes production of flem in the body and promotes yeast and fungus. In the digestive system it

becomes ‘casein’, a hard plaque which covers the intestinal walls and prevents nutrients from being absorbed by the fine receptors in the mucus membrane of the walls. Then the residue of cooked food sticks to it and becomes a toxic mass covering the entire colon, eventually only a small part in the center allows food to pass. ‘Casein’ has been used in the past as wall-cover instead of the modern paints made of petro-chemicals. Lately people start again using white cheese and eggwhite to make casein, it is very expensive, but does not emit toxic fumes unlike modern paints which give off those fumes for 20 years! It becomes a glass-like substance. I was diagnosed of having casein in my digestive tract and when I started to de-tox it was very painful, it really had become stuck to the walls.

Once the colon is clean it absorbes all vitams and minerals from food, no need of supplements anymore.

Myths and Legends

Drink your milk ! “Milk makes a child bright, it gives the body calcium, it is good for osteoporosis etc etc.” those are some of the myths taught by diary companies and concerned mothers…

People who drank their whole life milk can still have osteoporosis, they can have arthritis with calcium deposits, cows milk causes mucus and promotes the growth of fungus.

Cows and calves have another digestive system

Asians did not drink milk, dairy products were introduced before the 2 nd world war. The advertisement of huge multinational diary products are going really ‘under the skin’, mothers feel guilty if they don’t feed their children cows milk up to adolescence. Some children still drink their milk from bottles until they go to school!

Aside from building mucus milk has anti-biotic residue and even steroids and other medications given to cows.

They found pus in milk since cows are milked with machines and often have wounds and ulcers. High heating makes milk even less digestible. Most of the milk sold in Asia does not even spoil in the packaging because of procedures to make it last long

How do you get your carbohydrates?

Fruits and vegetables have enough carbohydrates. ‘carbo’s’ from grain are even toxic, grains have inhibitors who stop enzyme production, causing the body to produce acid to get rid of the un-indigestible food. Women’s diseases can come from too high level of estrogen caused by ‘carbo’s’, sugar and highly heated oils. If one gland is disturbed (like the pancreas) then other neighbor glands get out of balance.

How do you get your protein?

People are brainwashed that they need animal protein. Our teeth are not the teeth of meat eaters, we don’t have fangs like dogs or lions, our colon is long, meat eaters have a short colon and produce strong acid to digest and get rid of the residue of meat in the system.

Plants have enough protein.

In general we don’t have to think in terms of specific vitamins and minerals, if our food has a wide variety of colors it indicates that all the minerals and vitamins are there.

What vitamins and supplements shall I take?

If our food is holistic and complete there is no need of supplements. An example is the Boutenko family who has been tested by scientists recently. They are into raw live food since every member of the family got sick from the average US diet. It was found that their bodies have the right amount of minerals and vitamins.

But if we live in a polluted environment we might have to get more anti-oxidants to counter the destructions of our cells by ‘free radicals’. Deep breathing and exercise help also to oxygenate our cells.

The holistic solution to this is to have more greens in form of juices and salads. In cancer therapy green juices are even given as implant to be kept for a while in the rectum. Instead of wheat grass juice we can juice any herbal and edible green including the young leaves of fruit trees.

Health Teas as medicine

In my understanding healing energy from plants should not be destroyed by heating.

Instead of boiling herbs or pouring boiling water over dried leaves it is better to steep the fresh leaves

(like mint, green tea etc0 in luke warm water and even put it for a few hours in the sun to make a ‘suntea’. If no fresh herbs are available we can also use the dried herbs for this kind of ‘tea’ .

Otherwise water is the best drink, with a little lemon it becomes more refreshing.

As long as I have my rice, poor people are saying. In Asia they eat rice even with a little salt or salted fish or heavily salted fish-paste and –intestines or crab-paste. There is no life in this food. I have seen people eating huge servings of rice, but they are sickly and malnourished.

Communities who eat root crops tend to be healthier than those who eat grain. A very old lady was asked about her secret and she said she eats the sweet potatoes with the skin, the best nutrients are in the skin, also of many fruits.

What oil shall I use to fry my food?

Some people recommend to use virgin coconut oil or virgin olive oil? Why buy expensive cold pressed oil when it will be highly heated to fry unhealthy food?

Ideal is NO frying at all, if ever you don’t want to eat so much raw food, then slightly steam it and add the virgin oil later, or add ‘gata’ which is more complete and delicious. It was found that people for example in the Bicol region in the Philippines are healthier than others because they use a lot of coconut milk in cooking.

Coconut is high in cholesterol

This is one of the worst myths and legends, initiated by vegetable oil producing companies from the US.

Look at the research of Dr. Fife “The Healing wonders of Coconut Oil”, Dr, Marie Enig “Coconut, The

Healthiest Oil in the World” and Dr. Dayrit and his coconut research and experiences, even with

HIV/Aids patients.

Coconut oil is a saturated oil, but it is a medium chain fatty acid which is assimilated quickly by the body, it does not produce what they call ‘bad cholesterol”, opposite, it removes it.

Good and Bad Cholesterol

Many legends are woven around this subject. Through stress the walls of the veins can be hurt, even the use of micro waves in cooking food makes the walls brittle (it changes the cellular structure and produces formalin which hardens the veins) The body uses fat, cholesterol to repair the damaged walls and it can happen that those scars can cause blockages in the flow of blood. Most often it is not the ‘bad fats’ which cause those blockages. According to Dr. Dayrit people used to eat much more ‘bad fats’ like butter and

even pork fat, but they did not have coronary heart diseases, now with the highly heated vegetable oils and margarines there are much more people getting sick and dying from heart problems.

Better eat red rice and whole wheat products

The shell of grain is sharp and can even destroy the walls of the intestines. The inventor of the ‘healthy’ muesli, Dr. Bircher Benner, died of colon cancer. I used to eat muesli at home in Germany for a long time, but it is the worst combination of food, fruits with

Milk and whole grain, it gets sour and ferments. The best is to use fruits with coconut cream and grated coconut as fiber. If you want a granola kind of taste you can slightly

Stir-fry some coconut flakes with a little sesame and pour it over the fruit salad.

I cannot offend people by refusing to eat the food they offer

People will admire you for your courage to be firm and strong in your health commitments. They will become curious and ask you, especially if you look much younger and vibrant, they want to know your secret! Just tell them that this is what you have decided and you want to become health, slim and trim and active.

I grave for sweets and chocolates

I still do also sometimes, specially when I am stressed, then I look for a little piece of chocolate. Avoid chocolate which is too sweet, you can make your own by using

Native chocolate, melt it a little and add honey and coconut cream to satisfy your cravings. With the time it will slowly lessen. I also tried to grind raw cocoa beans and blend them with honey and coconut cream, it is delicious.

Coffee is a good anti oxidant

This advertising tries to tell us that coffee is healthy, all I know is that after drinking coffee I become acidic and my joints start to hurt. Coffee is good for enema….specially in the cure of cancer patients.

Coffee is very addictive. I used to feel sleepy when driving and immediately had to look for a cup of coffee, it gives this sea-saw feeling of up and down. Once I stopped drinking coffee I felt much better and did not feel sleepy anymore. But the smell of good coffee still gets me sometimes, then I take a small cup with honey and coconut cream.

Raw food is expensive

Another myth. Buy fruits in season, bananas, papayas, whatever is locally available, look for slightly overripe fruits and ask for discount. Buy cheap seeds and beans in poultry supply stores and sprout them at home, eat only the sprouts. Buy local greens like kamote tops, malunggay, saluyot, water spinach, chop them fine and mix with coconut cream, little salt and pepper, lemon-juice and a little ginger and onions….Or use greens like Tallinum which grows wild.

I made food for squatter children from the pulp of fruit juice and carrots, mixed it with fine coconut pulp, bananas, papayas and other fruits in season, a little brown sugar and the juice of young coconuts. It made them healthy and well and even good in school!

Even the parents and my workers started to eat what they called “Mom Ursula’s feeding”

Hormonal imbalance was rectified and one women who used to have miscarriages was able to conceive and became active and slim, fat people reduce, malnourished gain weight.

MSG makes food taste better

It swells the taste buds and they produce more saliva, giving the impression that food tastes better. After the addiction to MSG people have a hard time to recover, they need 4 weeks to taste normal again, first you might need to add more spices and salt which can be reduced with the time. Everybody in the

Philippines knows that 1 little pack of this white poison can kill a dog, why can’t it slowly kill people? It does, it even prevents

The pineal gland from producing the ‘happy’ hormones like dopamine and serotonine, eventually it destroys also the reproductive system, mothers cannot breast feed anymore – and that is the ultimate goal, hidden population control.

Fluoride is good for your teeth

Another incredible myth, proven to be not true. Check the research in the internet, Dr Rath’s revelation about how it was used to experiment in the concentration camp in Auschwitz to lower brain activity…..

Sugar free products are good for people with diabetes

Artificial sweeteners are mostly made of aspartame, look up the history in the internet, it is now in thousands of ‘sugar free’ products, can cause MS and other diseases. Put this powder on areas with ants and termites and see what happens to them, no need of pest killers.

Sugar gives energy

Short time energy, yes, but the side effects are that it makes the body acidic and it even aids in the growth of cancer cells. Sugar removes calcium and vitamin B from the body.

Canned goods

Food from canned goods are dead and acid producing, there is no value and no energy.

Children love junk food

This is not a myth, it is true. Advertising and environment add to this, children are becoming sick and obese. Introduce fruits on the table every day, let them munch carrot sticks, make nice dips, they love smoothies and shakes which are like ice-cream.

Talk to the school and bring it up during PTA meetings, try to ban junk food and soft drinks in school.

Get a speaker on nutrition, be an example yourself. Otherwise you help create an even sicker new generation, clients for hospitals and pharmacies instead of active, energetic and healthy citizens.

They say……

Who is they?? They say you need milk, they say you need protein from meat, they say you need sugar, they say etc etc,

Look at the results, who are THEY? The companies, the advertisers, even some doctors?

Are they healthy, trim and fit?

Simply try “simply raw “

Have courage to try and be healthy, look for examples who can encourage you, create a support group, become active, plant your own if you cannot buy, use cans, plastic bags, a small space on your balcony or porch, even window sill.

Appendix 8.

Simply Raw by Ursula Schloer

When humans were still free and nomadic they just gathered what they needed for food. Just think of the Garden of Eden with all kinds of plants, flowers, fruits and greens.

Allow me to say it in a very simple way. We Human beings are alive, every cell in our body is alive and has as finest particles biophotons, life and light. We don’t put a hand in hot oil or boiling water. But we take from nature what is alive and fresh and throw it in boiling water and hot oil, then we eat it. What do we expect from this kind of food, energy? It is dead, has no more enzymes and no more bio photons, instead it invites parasites, bacteria and fungi to start to destroy what is dead.

People ask if it is not better to cook food to destroy bacteria. But exactly the opposite is happening.

The sun is the main source of energy on this planet, through photo synthesis chlorophyll is produced and the leaves become green, this green is a potential energy provider and has the ability to heal and give anti oxidants to stop the production of free radicals.

Fruits are the ultimate food source, but green is needed when we are exposed to pollution, it even heals cancer by helping the body to build up its ability to create new cells.

There have been different schools of raw food, in Germany there has always been a group of raw foodists, eating ‘Rohkost’, I remember my mother telling me about people who eat raw and they expel old toxins from their body. I used to go out into the meadows and collect the fresh young wild herbs and put them in the salad. We had our own garden with organic vegetables and herbs.

I used to go to the forest and pick up wild berries, no garden berries have the flavor of wild raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and blackberries!

There is a group called ‘Instincto”, they smell the food before they eat it, when we start eating raw we will again have the instinct to tell by smell what is good for us, it will just smell like heaven when we have found the right food for that particular day, it can change from day to day, depending what the body needs.

When people go from cooked food to raw they look first for stimulants, gourmet food, even disguised to look like cooked food, raw burgers, raw salmon made of carrots and other vegetables etc.

With the time when the tastebuds are restored and the finer ability to smell returns there is less need of stimulants and spices. In general we can say that a colorful variety of fruits are having all what we need, adding to the menu a nice colorful salad and anything from coconut gives us all the nutrients we need.

We start the day with luke-warm water, one glass after waking up, another glass after shower, another before breakfast, taken with a little sea salt on the tongue it already gives us energy for the day. It is important that the water is not cold or hot, bodywarm, the body stores the cold water and heated water is also dead, has no more bio-photons. If you want to slim down, never drink cold water, luke warm water alone helps to get slim. People are used to ice-cold water, but most of people in hot countries don’t drink cold, they drink lukewarm or warm, some even hot tea as in Morocco and China.

If you take fatty food and meat, cold water will prevent the proteins from braking down, it hardens the fat. People go around with big bellies, full of undigested food!

The first step Is elimination and getting rid of old stored food-stuff, toxins in the intestines. A diet of fruits and salads can do a good job in cleansing beside colon cleansing with colonics.

Juices are only used as therapy for a short period of time, it is important to drink them slowly to absorb already in the mouth the nutrients and enzymes. Drink slowly as if chewing food to add saliva, called by the Chinese “heavenly juice”, you can even mock chewing without any food in the mouth to gather saliva and swallow it1

Whole fruits are always better, anything complete from nature is better than its parts.

I don’t’ throw away the pulp of jui ces or coconut milk, I separate the carrot- and the fruit pulp and mix it with fruits, honey and coconut water or coconut milk. This kind of food I fed to squatter children for 2 years and they did not get sick anymore, no more fever and cough or skin diseases. The local healer was surprised that she was not called anymore to the families and when she came she saw all the children well fed and healthy. Their school performance improved tremendously. Finally even the adults started to eat the food which they considered before an insult, they thought that kind of food is to be given to the pigs… Also my employees improved and one of them was able to conceive after she had several miscarriages due to hormonal imbalance.

I have friends who go to meetings or parties with their fruit basket and they munch on their fruits when others eat party food, they are very energetic and healthy.

But one has to be aware that there will be a healing crisis first, the body eliminates toxins and it can be quite uncomfortable. Most of the people think that you cannot drink straight the pure coconut milk, pressed from coco-fiber, it causes diarrhea. Once the body is cleansed it does not react that way anymore, coconut cleanses instantly and this should be a reason to be happy. Any elimination from the

body is important to get out the toxins and negative stull from the body system. So don’t be disturbed when the body reacts with diarrhea, cough and colds, even allergies and skin eruptions, fever, those are signs that the body’s imm une system is working and it is starting to cleanse.

Most of the people who go for raw food become very slim, but then increase again a little weight to a comfortable level, de-toxification takes out fat and the acids which are hidden in the fat. What is important is that enough liquid is given so that the body will not get dry. A minimum of 8 glasses of water a day helps, take a little salt on the tongue 2 to 3 times a day, but not iodized salt, simple rock- or natural unbleached sea salt will do. It has all the trace minerals the body needs.

Juices:

You can mix up to 3 or 4 different fruits and veggies together. I use more, but some people say it should be just few.

I take whatever is available and in season and mix it together, apples, pineapples, carrots, anything fresh and crunchy. Red beets, turnips, red and white cabbage (ideal for ulcers) etc. Even a little of ginger root and then I add greens, malunggay, sweet potatoe tops, squash tops, any green leafy vegetables, even

Organic lettuce leaves, parsley, oregano, basil, - I also use the young leaves of fruit trees. In the

Philippines they have a tea called pito-pito, meaning 7, they use 7 leaves of 7 kinds of fruit tree leaves, mangoes, star-apple, avocado etc. I use young leaves of trees which are considered herbal, guava leaves, even the very young leaves of papayas, soursap (guabano), atis etc.

You can also mix the green juice with the water of young coco-nuts (buko or butong), this makes a perfect energy drink. I noticed that the green juice is so full of energy that one can literally feel the energy in the forehead, opening the brain….It must have to do with the function of the pineal and pituary glands which are triggered.

Wheat grass juices is widely used, but then why only wheat grass? Wheat does not grow in the

Philippines and I am sure that any edible green will do, as long as it is not toxic and if possible it should be organic. If it is not organic there are natural products which cleanse the vegetables from pestizides and artificial fertilizers like Blue Miracle , made of ancient seasalt basically. Orange peels with little vinegar and salt will also do.

Instead of making tea – killing the herbs with hot water – I take the young leaves, steep them in water and put the glass in the sun – sun-tea. There is a herb called sambong of the sage family. If a mother could not breastfeed her child they just put those leaves in water and let the baby drink it, those children grew up healthy and strong , without any baby formula! It is also used by farmers for cows to increase milk production.

Our drinks are: Living water, if possible from a spring or made alive through a spiral process, alkaline, l fresh juices, sun-tea, smoothies with coconut milk instead of cows milk, yoghurt drinks made with yoghurt made of young coconut meat.

Breakfast:

Instead of muesli ( muesli is the worst combination, cereals with cows milk and fruits)

Mixed finely chopped fruits of different kinds mixed with chopped nuts (soaked for a minimum of 24 hours in water to stimulate the production of enzymes and to make them alive), pour over

Coconut milk or/and a little coconut water. Sweeten if necessary with little honey, also finely grated coconut meat

Lunch:

A big salad with different greens and a mixture of other raw vegetables, young corn, avocado finely sliced, olives, tomatoes, cucumber, radish, finely chopped cabbage, even broccoli, asparagus, heart of the coconut (ubo), young bamboo shoots etc with fresh herbs.

Dressing is basically from coconut milk with little natural vinegar or lemon, a pinch of salt and pepper or paprika, never use mayonnaise, it is made of highly heated oil and eggs.

If there is no coconut milk I blend tomatoes with cucumber and a little garlic and spices with salt, or a avocado with herbs and a little lemon juice

Yoghurt

Blend the meat of young coconut with water to make it a smoothy milk, then put yoghurt starter, for example kefir or few spoons of original yoghurt and place it in a covered jar, wrap it with a cloth so that it is dark and let it stand in a warm room for 6 to 8 hours till it start so rise, it should just start, then put it in the fridge

Coconut cheese

The milk of coconut which is squeezed from the grated nut can be used in different stages. I keep it in the fridge for 2 to 3 days till it becomes hard, then I blend it with a little fresh coconut milk and different herbs and spices. It tastes almost like white cheese, carefully blend it and mix garlic and basil, or coriander, parsley , oregano, dill with a little pinch of salt and pepper.

This is ideal also for toppings on finely sliced turnips, finely sliced cucumbers etc and as side dressing for salad.

Desserts

All my desserts are mixed with coconut milk or soaked nuts made into milk or paste. Any fruit can be mixed with the thick milk, the milk can be either fresh or 1 day old.

I use creamy star apples with coconut milk, soursap, even durian. The star-apple cream becomes like pudding.

I also use the pulp of fruits and mix it with coconut milk and a little honey, put it in a cup and turn it around, then decorate it with cream and a sliced fruit on top, ideal fiber and no waste.

When I make juice I juice first the fruits carrots and put the pulp aside for desserts or raw cakes, then

Tomato and cucumber with basil or other greens for tabuli or saziki like dishes. The other greens, vegetable- and herb pulp can be the base of a cold soup.

Soup

Coconut milk based cold soup with: tomatoes , cucumber and little garlic,

Broccoli, asparagus, celery, fennel, fresh mushrooms, just one kind mixed with the milk and water, add little salt and pepper and maybe just very little garlic, serve cool, the water added could be warm.

Coconut spaghetti: Medium young coconut meat finely cut in stripes, make a sauce of either raw tomatoes with garlic and herbs or heat it a little, add 3 day old coconut cheese to it and pour over the coconut spaghetti, you can very slightly heat it up. Vary with green pepper, avocado etc.

I also finely chop the tops of pepper, saluyot, water spinach, talinum, gota kola, even ocra, bitter squash and put it over the salad. If no lettuce available those greens will do with a little Chinese cabbage finely sliced, tomatoes and cucumber. Also any kind of sprouts can be put over the salad, no end to variations.

Coconut based raw food is very fillilng, I always have something of coconut in a meal, there is no need to buy virgin coconut oil if there is coconut milk, this is the source of the oil, but it is complete. The only disadvantage is that it cannot be kept asl long as the oil

Making your own virgin oil:

Press the milk from the ripe coconut meat and put it in a covered pot or bowl , leave it standing for 2 to

3 days and the oil will appear on top, scoop it or let it run through a very fine gauze.

Virgin coconut oil is the best medicine to strengthen the immune system, it is proven that it can cure

HIV/Aids and other viral diseases.

In Sri Lanka they eat in the morning chopped gota kola (for the immune system and memory) with grated coconut and little lemon. Gota kola (in the Philippines it is called tagip kohol or yahongyahong)

Has been used in India for thousands of years in ayurvedic medicine, 2 to 3 small leaves a day is sufficient.

The Boutenko family, also called the Raw Family ( www.rawfamily.com

) has been recently checked by doctors and they are very healthy, they never take any supplements or vitamins, just raw food.

The best blood as checked with live blood analysis was by people who ate raw food, or at least a lot of raw greens or fresh coconut every day.

The blood of a person who almost had a stroke was sticky and not oxygenated, but after 3 days of pure raw food and juices with a lot of coconut the blood cells were round, healthy and had even a little light aura around them. The person had also undergone colonic cleansing during those three days, after 6 days the blood looked completely healthy.

Appendix 9. Energy and Harmony Spectromenter – Pendulum – Waves –

Frequencies. by Ursula Schloer

Fine energy waves can be measured by a spectromenter and through the wave length it can be detected what substance it is. Rose has a frequency of 132, when smelling rose essence or the flower the energy goes up, if somebody has flu, health can be improved immediately, that was proved by scientists who experimented with it. Rose can create a ‘romantic atmosphere” as they say, and it removes bl ockages, women can conceive, skin will improve. Human energy is low when there is flu and instead of 65 to 75 it might go down to 55, when there is cancer it can go as low as 45, if lower the person is dying.

Coconut has the highest energy in nature, 300 hertz, anything from coconut, even the roots, leaves, the wood and the nuts, also the sap and the heart of the coconut Coconut -date and pili nut trees are able to get traces of gold from the sun and convert it to energy. In countries with coconut trees there is also a lot of gold, could it be that gold came from plants?? People of some tribes eat the larvae of the coconut beatle and say they get very strong, it has traces of gold…

Gold has been used as medicine in alchemy and spagyric medicine and is now again used in Japan and

Taiwan to prevent hardening of the veins in the form of nano gold.. Alcohol has the effect of turning into formaline and this substance which is used in embalming hardens the veins, after drinking alcohol people complain of headache the following morning. Mirco waves have the same effect on food, there is formaline produced and the food does not spoil easily, but it becomes unhealthy. The Russians did not allow micro wave ovens to be used since the early 70s since it destroys the life force in food!

Specific frequencies correspond to certain frequencies of the energy centers and when the right wave is used the glands connected to those centers will start to function better and produce the substances the body needs. Waves coming from sound, colors, specific movements and scent have the same effect, also the waves of informations from plants, minerals, even animals and for example the healing hands of a person.

The body is like an orchestra with many different instruments, when all are well tuned the music is beautiful and harmonic, but when just one instrument is not tuned or plays a wrong tune, the music is in dis-harmony. The body is not in harmony when one of the meridians is blocked, the energy cannot flow.

If there is negative energy, meaning a low frequency stored in the cellular memory because of a traumatic incidence in the past, this creates a “NEST” of low energy. This nest attracts now all stuff made of low energy, just like cockroaches shy away from light, parasites, bacteria and fungi cannot exist well in a hi-frequency environment with light and bio-photons. Only plants which are not healthy will be attacked by those parasites, when the process of dying starts they come and attack, try to brake down the cells and eat up the plant and dead flesh. If the soil is healthy, plants are also doing well and will not be easily attacked, the same happens in the human body. Cancer cells thrive with cooked food, specially dead meat, they still spread little with cooked vegetables, but they not only stop but they even die when the body is given fresh fruits, vegetables and juices Instead of buying or building a spectrometer we can simply use a pendulum. Either a necklace with a heavy pendant or a ring put on a thread or a long hair can be used as pendulum.

Just hold it over an object and it will start to move. I discovered that usually with women the ‘good’ energy moves counterclock wise and with men opposite. When held over the basic chakra, women’s energy moves counter clock wise and me n’s clock wise, just like the symbol of yin and yang. Going up the body each chakra moves again in the other direction, like a snake, this is where they symbol of the snake and the sword came from. It is the symbol of the caduceus, the healing symbol of the Greek God of health, Aesculap.

When I use the pendulum on food it will show me what food is full of energy and still has life. It is fun to do that, people usually are amazed, all fresh food has ‘positive’ energy, coming from the earth, also called telluric energy, equivalent to magnetic energy.

When food is cooked the pendulum moves slightly back and forth, that is neutral, no energy, but if it is highly heated oil and really damaging it goes the other way around. This happens with mayonnaise, peanut butter, coffee, white sugar for example and other preserved low energy food, also mobile phones which emit micro waves and radiation.

Even the energy of fabrics can be measured, anything synthetic coming from petrochemicals is dead and can cause blockages, if natural fabrics are worn, cosmic energy can enter the body and we can communicate with each other through the energy emitted from our charkas, but with synthetic clothing this energy exchange is prevented.

The same happens in buildings, if the energy is flowing in a house, it is made of natural materials. Even the shape of the building and the roof is important, ideal is a round building like a teepee of the

American Indians or the graal of the Africans, or the ancient houses in South-East Asia, the temples, their energy is flowing and cosmic energy can enter. If the floor is made of natural materials, the telluric energy can move through and combine with the energy from the universe, creating the perfect flow of electric and magnetic energy.….

But if the building is made with metal poles, cement (heated lime stone) and the roof is made of metal, the energy in the house is not flowing, it can cause disturbances and people cannot live in harmony, they start to fight and argue inside such a house, specially of the roof is made of metal sheets.

The pendulum can show how high the energy is in a building, divining can with movable rods detect electromagnetic disturbances in a home which can come from certain lines from the earth. When there is a disturbance a person would not be able to sleep well on that spot, but when the bed is moved to another place where the energy is harmonic, he/she can sleep well again.

Some buildings are so negatively charged that it might be better to move to another place unless something is done about it. Feng Sheu is used to let energies move in a building, this ancient science is looking at the distribution of 5 elements and their flow plus the cosmic influence of our solar system.

Symbols are also emitting energy and are keys to unlock certain information or waves. They can also be used in healing and balancing. A very powerful symbol is the equal cross, but when used tilted it brings energy out of balance.

The rose and lotus has been used as a symbol, it is the symbol of the heart or the middle chakra of the body, when the energy there is flowing, all the other energy centers will be balanced, that means if there is an open heart there is love and love conquers all….Without love we are nothing Jesus the Christ says, we are not vibrating in harmony. The head might be developed and the sex center might be open, but the result can be s ex and violence without love…..or just automatic sex for the sake of physical satisfaction, not a spiritual union. Again that is imbalance and can cause harm.

Celibacy has been misunderstood, it is not that sexuality should be suppressed, it can be

Raised up to another higher level by moving this ‘mother power’ up without physical sex and transforming it into a spiritual energy flowing upwards.

The power of the kundalini (snake force) has been very much misunderstood, when tantric meditation is practiced or the untimely and early rising of the kundalini is triggered, the impurities in the different energy centers might be released in the wrong way and cause not only more blockages abut it could result in ‘wrong’ wiring and energies go wild. That we can observe in adolescence where the sexual energy is starting to be released. If not guided properly the young people become irritated and sexually active without having yet their full potentials developed. Early positive emotional bonding to the opposite sex parent can prevent imbalance. When men had been not nurtured as young boys up to the age of 7 by their mother in an unconditional loving way, the y tend to ‘steal’ female energies later.

Woman would be not able to have the right attitude to their partner if they did not have the bonding with the father at an early age, they can be abused or will abuse a man, they don’t find the balance needed for a harmonic relationship.

Orgasm during sexual union is but a reminder of what the energy system of a human being is capable of by getting into a state of bliss. Bliss can be achieved by raising the energy so that every center produces the right amount of waves, then not only the body is nurtured by itself ( no need of food as energy source) but also the ultimate opening of the pituary and pineal glands will release a honey like substance which results in ‘samadhi’ or the state of bliss which was experienced b y saints. In our human existence we could not take this state for a long time, we would be too ‘far’ out.

In order to prevent ‘wrong’ wiring of energy and short -circuit, it is better to bring the energy in from above, first electric, then magnetic. This cosmic electric energy comes from the Father, the male energy or by Christians called the “Holy Spirit”, when guided properly it will bring in strong spiritual energy and healing. When balanced with the

Flow of the “Mother Power”, the telluric energy from t he Earth, then harmony and balance will be restored and we function well.

Wilhelm Reich used this balancing with his “orgon e shooter” where organic(telluric, magnetic) and inorganic (cosmic, electric) materials are combined in a spiral inside a tube and the energy is raised, not

only of the body but also the atmosphere. They are building huge orgon-shooters to induce rain in arid zones like in Israel’s desert.

If people who are potential ‘orgon e shooters” or generators of energy raise their vibrational lev el, then there is harmony in nature, when there is blockage of energy like in the case of cultures who prevent a woman from experiencing sexual flow of energy by removing the clitoris through circumcision, nature dies…and there is no rain.

Peaceful and healthy societies are those who are free and give loving support to children, nurture them through breast feeding and bonding, not punish them but guide them gently.

Those societies live in harmony with nature and don’t abuse it, they give harmonious energy t o nature and with that they nurture and are being nurtured.

What we see in the world now is a destruction of the environment, not only of the outer but also the inner environment. Life becomes superficial, entertaining, but not with substance, noisy and not peaceful, disturbing sounds surround us and we get polluted, there is a need to understand energies and harmony.

“Dead” and toxic water can be healed and made alive again and become a powerful tool for healing and harmony when we speak beautiful words of love and gratitude, we can also heal ourselves and others by showing gratitude to each other. (see www.emoto.com

)

Human relations can be very complicated, the whole world is now in turmoil, imbalance and there is violence and abuse of others and the environment. We put up fences and boarders of all kinks in stead of being One in harmony and love.

We have to start to look at making the energies flow in our body/mind/spririt envornment first before we can do something about others and the environment in general, we have to stop sending out negative energies of thoughts and pollute our system with low energy food and chemicals and raise our vibrational level.

MAY PEACE PREVAIL ON EARTH

Those simple words can be used when thoughts of any negative kind are coming up, this has been promoted by Mr. Goi from Japan who founded the World Peace Prayer Society after the bombing of

Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of the last world war. He was aware of the effects of the thoughts of humanity. Our thoughts are running wild and can hardly be controlled, by using those simple words we can be part of the change to a peaceful world

In the Celestine Prophec y James Redfield describes how we use dramas to steal each other’s energies, as lo ng as we don’t look for a higher source of energy we will continue to suck each others energies by playing dramas. Once we connect regularly and consciously to nature and the divine source we will be more in harmony and create a better world of harmonious frequencies. ursulaschloer@yaoo.com

Appendix 10.

Discussion with Boy Ortilla, Natural/Alternative Medicine Practitioner

Held at Susana Co’s residence, May 23, 2005, Center for Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Vicente

Sotto Hospital (Southern Islands), Clinic hrs MWFS 8-4 pm. Lecture every Saturday at 9 pm.

1.

Alternative medicine is not new. It existed before modern medicine and is now being revived. It is the original, natural medicine.

2.

There are more than 300 modalities under alternative medicine which are now adopted by modern medicine.

3.

Alternative medicine treats the cause rather than the symptom of a disease.

4.

Simply done it means taking natural food, exercise, daily dose of healthy sunlight (30min-1 hr of early am and late pm sun). Feet should always be grounded, or in touch with the ground, esp. on the beach; walk barefoot on the ground part of the day. The shoreline also gives added advantage of the sea breeze which is laden with minerals. The mountain breeze is also good but not as rich as that at the seashore.

5.

Did you know that Louis Pasteur (to whom we owe pasteurization or heating of food/drink) retracted his thoughts about germs in his deathbed? He said that it is not the bacteria that cause diseases. (sharing from a listener: a guy was riding a train and very annoyed with spiritual stuff of the very old man who was seated in front of him who was praying the rosary throughout the trip. Upon disembarking he apologized to the old man for his own attitude. The man gave him a name card. To this young man;s surprise, written on the card was the name of Louis Pasteur!).

6.

Many terms now use the preceding word “anti” (e.g., antibiotic, antidepressant). They all oppose symptoms. Thus diseases always recur…this is good for the business of pharmaceuticals!

7.

People may claim that bacteria indeed attack our bodies but one might also want to answer the question why bad bacteria became dominant in our bodies? They thrive well because of our food!

8.

Designer foods now abound. They may look and taste good but are devoid of good nutrients and life force. They are chemo-agents.

9.

Also in vogue are hormone therapies, again another approach that treat only the symptoms and not the cause. The extreme approach is surgery and it has become very common for minor or highly treatable ailments through naturally means.

10.

Luckily physical therapy is now a popular approach in western medicine. It used to be only in the domain of traditional medicine.

11.

It is a pitiful fact that there are only 10 recognized medicinal herb/plants in the Philippines by the formal sector (this includes sambong. Lagundi, banaba and the 7-7 ones). We actually have a lot more. We only need to know that “our food is our medicine” and the diversity of food in the old days was thousand times more than now.

12.

I prefer the oriental type of herbal medicine. That means Chinese, Japanese, Indian (ayurveda) and our very own indigenous medicine. What nature has grown beside us is what is needed by our bodies. Western or non-oriental medicine are not what is best for our system.

13.

Three (3) things to remember in the alternative approach:

1) The five flavors according to the Chinese/Oriental culture: sweet, pungent/spicy, salty, bitter and sour. Take them daily. Balance is important.

2) Energy of the product (the western type medicine or supplements may contain the essential nutrients but are devoid of life force).

3) Season- take according to the environment. For example eat or drink food not in opposite but the same temperature as the ambient temperature. This is a big contrast to the common practice of,for example, drinking cold water during hot days. If we take in cold food/drinks on hot days we suppress the heat inside our bodies and it cannot escape thus making us imbalanced and sick. The use of aircon is a good example. People easily gets sick by being exposed to it (esp. getting in and out of it on a very hot day).

14.

The temperature of the bath water also follows the same principle. It should be the same as the environment. One need not feel too cold or too hot after bathing if we bathe right. Following is the suggested sequence of wetting the body: navel down  lower back down  nape down to the spine  whole body or torso  face  head (LAST). The explanation in the Hindu culture is spirituality (the head being most important and therefore last). But it could also be that the head is the seat of the endocrine and immune system and should not experience shock

(masubhan: fire and water violently meets). Heat will gradually go lower down the body. (Pam’s

concern: why another approach says wet the back last to avoid chills which points to the shocked

lungs; this may even result to pneumonia if not to simple colds)

15.

Note that the same principle is used in fever management: to balance heat put hot compress at the feet area. (Pam’s concern: but how come anthroposophic medicine saysuse cold so heat will

go down the body)

16.

An important practice upon rising early in the morning is to have lemonsito/kalamansi with salt

(as many fruit as you can handle, a pinch of salt in 1.5 liter fresh water). The drink is alkaline which is what is healthier. Sugar or sweetener will make it acidic so should not be used. Take within 5-10 min. Then after an hour take 2 glasses of water, about 10 min before breakfast.

17.

SUCH APPROACH IS CALLED A REVERSE MEAL. Water before a meal decreases the appetite, limits mucous membrane production in the stomach lining and prevents release of hydrochloric acid in the esophagus.

18.

Never take cold beverage. The body temperature is 37.2 C. Cold drink will make the body hang or shut off its function. Here the liver will build fat around the liver to insulate itself.

19.

To avoid pasa (napasahan o pasmo) or much delayed meal, before eating drink lukewarm water with salt first.

20.

Allergy is an immune system dysfunction.

21.

B complex vitamins are produced in the colon so lactobacillus drink is good to enhance its production.

22.

There are now 7 hepatitis viruses, up to hepa G already. One needs only to recall the movie

Godzilla…( Pam’s concern: need to ask what is the movie about).

23.

Too much of one of the 5 flavors create an imbalance. It is important to know what food has which property. Too much sweet and the kidneys will suffer. The lungs will follow, then the liver and then the stomach.

24.

Did you know that cancer is a cold disease? Other diseases are warm diseases (e.g. inflammations, allergies). These phenomena parallel the warming of the earth. Dabong or bamboo shoots has cold energy. Yet not very many eat it anymore. Other cold foods are ampalaya and …Whereas pungent foods compound heating. Meat is a warm energy food. Same with sweet foods. The Chinese eat dabong to meat to neutralize.(Pam’s concern: need to check

out which are warm and cold diseases and the appropriate food).

25.

To get the most out of vegetables such as ampalaya and radish, don’t squeeze the juice out. We need to recall our local plants or foods for better health management. Sharing: Libgos, a local mushroom that appears only during thunderstorm, can’t be cultured.

26.

In Alternative medicine we talk about imbalance instead of disease. Food needs to be balanced to prevent or cure disease.

27.

It is quite useful to also know your blood type. This is becoming a popular trend now, ”to eat according to one’s blood type”. Type O is adapted to high protein diet, A to vegetarian, B to semi-vegetarian. AB is the most evolved blood type and carries the characteristics of A and B

(the book “Eat Right for your Type could prove useful).

28.

The way to know the food energies or their “temperature” (i.e., being hot or cold) is to check out books or visit health practitioners. Iridology is useful but in my experience it is not very accurate. The tongue color or appearance is more indicative. Normal or healthy tongue is whitish pink. Purple means heat. Red and pink means there is overheat and while swollen tongue with sores at the sides means that the liver is problematic.

29.

Problem with the stomach can be known simply through interview. Then also by the smell of the patient’s breath (foul smell). For this take salt, cucumber and ba nanas.

30.

Flatulence is also an indication of digestive dysfunction. One needs to eat alive foods. Also take care that you drink live water. Processed water is in the form of distilled, reverse osmosis, chlorinated.

31.

Distilled water is not good. In nature water is meant to go through full cycle before consumed.

Rain water is distilled water and taking it means disrupting the water cycle.

32.

Never use the microwave. So many are now in the country just like plastics and others but this means only that we are getting the waste from the western countries as they move away from these unhealthy materials. Microwave process destroys the healthy nature of food and drinks (it changes or reverses the spin of molecules such that they are no longer recognizable by the body).

33.

Tap water is sufficient to use for drinking but one may use native charcoal to filter city water rather than using water filters. This is by far the best. Do not use coconut shell charcoal because it is high in fiber (not as adsorbent?) and not too effective for filtration. Use wood charcoal. Cut into a cubic inch size and wash in running water before using. When it is a few days old change to fresh ones while the old one may be recycled by washing and redrying (or use for other purposes). It will float at the start and will eventually sink to the bottom.

34.

Sharing: Charcoal is used to deodorize refrigerator. Sliced calamansi is put beside it, maybe functions as aromatizer.

35.

As to the question whether charcoal is harmful due to the fact that charred material from broiled fish or meat is to be avoided, charcoal is not the same as burnt meat. Remember that benzopyrene is produced during grilling. Such compound is very carcinogenic.

36.

Charcoal (activated) is very good blood purifier. It is good for dialysis (many of our patients experience reduced frequency of dialysis with its use, from daily to even just once a month in a number of cases). It is also good for those who have excessive gas production, and to drink on an empty stomach. Its site of action is in the duodenum (?) where the blood in the capillaries get in touch with the charcoal and get cleansed (this need some verification). The liver is also more directly cleansed this way. The kidneys benefit greatly with charcoal.

37.

There are 4 sources of charcoal: wood, clay, bones, coconut (the best among the four is coconut because it has the highest fiber).

38.

Coconut oil the virgin kind is very good to thicken the hair. There is even no need to use shampoo. The olds use samuyao (scented lime) to go with it.

39.

To make virgin coconut oil (VCO) is very simple. One way is to press the grated mature meat in its own water, put the expressed milk in the refrigerator, scoop out the hardened part (or drain the fluid out) and put in the cold again. Oil will eventually separate.

40.

VCO is considered a good aphrodisiac.

41.

A concoction that is akin to a beauty product is 1:1:1:1 proportion of coconut oil, lactic acid (or fresh milk), molasses, and egg. Mix together, dip a wad of cotton and apply on face for several minutes.

42.

VCO is effective on lipid-coated viruses. It is thus antiviral (anti hepatitis C). It also gives us energy the whole day (much like squalene or omega 3 fatty acids).

43.

With VCO one need not use soap for the body; just use luffa or stone as scrub, then use VCO.

44.

An alternative to toothpaste that is very good is salt.

45.

Vaccination is controversial. There are those who claim it is effective and others who contend that it is unnecessary and even does more harm than good. This approach is not favored by alternative medicine. We must remember that polio decline overtime was but a natural phenomenon and had paralleled only to the increased administration of the vaccine. We were not vaccinated in our time but we were ok. Vaccination does not necessarily prevent the disease but only delays it (to the point that it appears at a later but worse stage). It is even seen as necessary for some bodily constitution as a means to cleanse the body of certain pre-birth or after-birth impurities. We also need to be reminded that what is introduced into very young bodies are weakened germs which can be too much in population or could become stronger and more virulent. There is also an issue of the carrier substance used for the germs. Powerful solvents like mercury can be very damaging esp. to the chil d’s nervous system and is linked to the high incidence of autism among children.

46.

The pharmaceutical industries haven’t caught up with the rate of mutation of germs, nor are they truly innocent or not party to the sweeping vaccination policies in schools requiring children to have them for admission.

47.

For babies who have no mother’s milk put coconut oil into the milk (dropper -full). Before filled milk had higher proportion of coconut milk. Now it is about 6%.

48.

VCO is available at IPI. A good container is the one with pump to avoid contamination.

49.

As to vitamins, there is a difference among different products or sources. The processing is critical. It is important that they still contain the needed life force or energy. Three sources that I recommend highly are Chinese drug stores, Carica and Moreishi. The supplement Intra contains

21 herbs which are foreign. Local is still best.

50.

Local medicine or products: native garlic, ginger, carrots (closest to us like the ones in Dalaguet rather than Baguio or Cagayan de Oro). Produce must also be organic. Hydroponics is not truly organic because the plant is not in touch with the soil. Moreover, only some 16 minerals are provided.

51.

Brown rice can be obtained from groceries like Rustan’s. Metro Ayala, Ananda Marga,...

52.

For carrot juice, consume the juice within 5 minutes after preparation. Some say up to 6 hrs.

Carrot juice is a good medication against diabetes but the juice increases sugar. Thus juicing with pulp is better. Fiber must be present. Carrot skin or peel should also be included as much as possible.

53.

Another principle in health management is to eat the living colors every day, meaning the 7 colors of the rainbow: from red to purple. Find plant foods that match these colors. Thus for better health we look at colors, flavors and energy.

54.

For more information refer to the book Chinese Natural Cures by Henry Lu, a thick book in

English published in Canada. We should realize that most diseases now are due to nutrient excesses, or to vitamins.

55.

All above seem too much for us to do but transforming what we do is never too late. It is ok to do it very late than later.

56.

Violet or purple colored food is best to support the immune system. Thus duhat or lumboy is good. It is also good against diabetes. Eggplant (organic) is good immune booster. Purple camote and blue flowers are also good.

57.

Tomato should be ripe from the vine, not green at all. Solanin is in the green one and is toxic.

Lycopene (a good antioxidant) is most available if cooked.

58.

If one is in an imbalanced state the moderation principle still cannot work.

59.

Any symptom in the body is an indication of imbalance. Hearing problem is most likely linked to kidney problems; then also the liver. It is an indication of lubrication deficiency.

60.

Other notes:

1) Kefir (sp?) is the best fermented food by far.

2) Coffee enema also cleanses the liver. It is also good medicine for asthma.

3) Mature coconut is the best source, better than buko in terms of nutrition, but to use it would be good to be sure first the kind of ailment one has. Some organ problem may not be able to tolerate coconut milk or oil very well. Buko juice contains a lot of sugar.

4) Although bitter is good too much of it is also not good for the liver. Malungay seeds

(mature) should be avoided (it threatens the liver) but flowers are good.

5) More than 400 IU of vitamin E is toxic to the liver. This vitamin is fat soluble and stored in the liver.

6) Hawaya, a medicinal plant can no longer be found. (sci name?)

7) One need not stick to the 3 times a day diet.
