Four Columns Summer 2014 edition View this email in your browser Letter From the E Hello Alumni! I hope you all have been enjoying your summer as much as we have. The active members have been hard at work preparing for upcoming Rush, and can’t wait to get back on campus to put all our plans into action. However we are always interested in hearing any ideas from alumni with regards to ideas for Rush or what was done in the past years that seemed to work. It would be great to hear from you, if you have any suggestions. We would also love to know if you know any incoming University of Illinois students. If you do, please give us their information so that we may contact them about rush. In the past alumnus influence has helped us recruit many members so if you have any family or family friends who might be interested in rushing a fraternity I hope that you will let them know about all the great times you have had as a member of Delta Chi. Lastly if you have any announcements that you may feel alumni may be interested in please let me know and I will be sure to include them in the next Four Columns. As much as I know you love hearing about us and current house affairs, we know you are also interested in what is going on with your pledge brothers and other pledge classes through the years. I will be sending out another Four Columns prior to homecoming on October 25th. ITB, Vincent Davis ‘16 Pictured: From Right to left- Vince Davis “E”, Joseph Langhenry “C” 2014 Delta Chi National Convention As some of you may know, this week was the Delta Chi National Convention and I as well as our “C” Joseph Langhenry ’16 had the pleasure of representing our chapter at this year’s edition in Scottsdale, AZ. This convention was a historic one for the Delta Chi fraternity as a whole; a resolution was passed that the Delta Chi Fraternity does not and will not tolerate sexual harassment, stalking, domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault. Any member found liable of any of these charges will be brought up on the charge of “Conduct unbecoming a Delta Chi” and adjudicated under Delta Chi law. We would also like to congratulate Miles Washburn, Marquez Brown, and Aaron Otto on being elected “AA”, “CC”, and “DD” respectively. The next convention will be held in 2 years in Louisville and we would love to see all of you alumni there. It is a great opportunity to interact with many generations of Chi’s and share stories. News/Events This upcoming semester we have decided to hold a spring philanthropy for the first time in a while in addition to our Winter Miss Greek Illinois Philanthropy. We made this decision to honor our fallen brother Casey Wycoff White who was tragically taken from us just a few months ago. The philanthropy will be softball based and all the proceeds will be going towards a charity to help children get baseball equipment and be able to play the game Casey always loved. We hope to continue holding this event as a chapter tradition for many years to come. As a reminder, we are still promoting our 1111 Endowment Fund to renovate the areas aforementioned in our previous email. Take a moment to give back to the home that gave you so much. To send an electronic donation, visit our website (check out the contributions at the bottom) or visit this link and put your email along with our donation fund PayPal account deltachi.illinoisdonations@gmail.com. Remember that anything and everything is appreciated. As we said before, we will need your help to preserve what can almost be a landmark on the university's campus.
