History of the Wise County Project Group
The Wise County Youth Project Group was revived in 2009 with six Wise County Youth receiving a
registered Longhorn heifer. Since then the program has grown to include more than 20 youth from Wise
County actively showing on the show circuit with more than 40 head of cattle. Heifers from the first round
of donations and some from the second have calved giving the youth new show prospects. The youth
involved in the project group have made a commitment to promote the breed and educate the public about
the many great qualities and benefits of the Longhorn cattle.
In 2010 the group organized and ran their first World Qualifying show with proceeds used for the
establishment of the North Texas Longhorn Breeders Association Scholarship Fund. The event was a huge
success both in number of cattle exhibited and the amount of money made to establish the scholarship fund.
This was all made possible by the “generous” contributions of our supporters.
The North Texas Longhorn Scholarship fund was established to assist graduating senior members of
the North Texas Youth Affiliate in their pursuit of higher education. For more information on the

The Wise County Project Group along with the North Texas Affiliate would like to thank you for
