Written Component: You will research a historical or modern day hero (living or dead) and write an information paragraph about him or her. Concentrate on three main aspects of the hero, with examples, to make up the well-structured paragraph. Ensure that you use MLA format for in text citations and work cited. Suggested Length: 8 sentences double-spaced. One topic sentence, three points with proof (must be cited) and one closing sentence. 2. Oral Presentation: Each student will take on the role of his or her chosen hero. You will create five questions that a reporter would ask in an interview with your hero. You will respond as the hero and a student volunteer (the interviewer) will ask the questions during the presentations. (Be sure to have a script for yourselves as well as the student volunteer). Your responses will show detailed knowledge, application and understanding of the hero pattern. Be creative, use props and costumes to enhance your presentation. Length of oral presentation: approximately five minutes. Questions for your interview should be selected from the HERO’S JOURNEY and should be relevant and insightful (call to adventure, life challenges/roadblocks, rewards, etc). The script should be a maximum of 2 pages double-spaced. Timeline: Thursday Jan. 12: Day One: Select a hero, begin your brainstorm and start your question sheet for the interview. Friday Jan. 13: Day Two: Research period: Write information paragraph and answers to interview questions. (Bring research information to class) Monday Jan 16: Day Three: Final editing of interview questions and information paragraph. Tuesday Jan. 17: Day Four: Create good copy - interview questions/answers as well as information paragraph. Wednesday Jan. 18: Day Five: Presentation Day What you will hand in on presentation day: Two typed Interview sheets (questions and answers for you and the student volunteer) as well as good copy and rough copy.
