Bliss in Mt. Zion
“Here am I and the children whom the Lord has given me! We are for signs and
wonders in Israel from the Lord of Hosts who dwells in Mt. Zion.” Isa. 8:18

Bliss in Zion:
Hebrews 12:2 (Schonfield translation)
“…who for the bliss in store for Him bore the cross…”
We are the joy/bliss that Jesus endured for. He endured for Mt. Zion – his city of rule
– the New Jerusalem.
Bliss – noun (Old English < blithe joyous)
1. Superlative happiness; heavenly joy
2. Gladness; joy.
3. A cause of delight.
Synonyms: HAPPINESS, RAPTURE
Superlative – adjective (Latin < superlatives excessive)
1. Elevated to the highest degree; consummate; of supreme excellence or eminence.
2. Excessive that which is of highest possible excellence or superior to all others.
Happiness – noun
1. The state or quality of being happy; the pleasurable experience that springs from
possession of good or the gratification of desires; enjoyment; blessedness.
2. Good fortune; prosperity
Synonyms: blessedness, BLISS, cheer, comfort, contentment, delight, ecstasy,
enjoyment, gladness, gratification, joy, merriment, mirth, pleasure, rapture, rejoicing,
satisfaction, triumph! Comfort may be almost wholly negative, begin found in security or
relief form that which pains or annoys. Enjoyment Is more positive and pleasure still more
vivid;…pleasure is past, a worthy satisfaction, more serene and rational than pleasure.

Gladness is happiness that overflows. Joy is more intense than pleasure. BLISS IS
ECSTATIC, PERFECTED HAPPINESS. See RAPTURE.
Rapture – noun
1. The state of being rapt or transported; ecstatic joy; ecstasy.
2. The act of transferring a person form one place to another: Elijah’s rapture to

3. An act or expression of excessive delight.
4. Obs. A snatching away; violent seizure. To enrapture; transport with ecstasy.
Synonyms: BLISS; delight, ecstasy, exultation, happiness, joy, rejoicing, transport,
triumph. Rejoicing in happiness or joy that finds utterance in word, song, festivity, etc.
Delight is vivid, overflowing happiness of a somewhat translent kind; ecstasy is state of
extreme or extravagant delight; rapture is closely allied to ecstasy, but is more serene,
exalted, and enduring. Transport is the condition of one carried away out of himself by
some powerful passion or emotion, whether joyous or the reverse. Triumph of such joy as
results from victory, success, and achievement.
Antonyms: agony, apathy, dejection, despair, distress, horror, misery, pain,
torture, woe, wretchedness.
Ecstasy – noun
1. The state of being beside oneself through some extravagant and overpowering
emotion or mental exaltation. An ecstasy of joy.
2. An enrapturing or transporting influence; a rapture.

is full of bliss.
