in the sentence. After running through sample sentences with the
students, students will write their own sample sentences. They will
swap their sentences with other students and identify the parts.
Then, the teacher will pass out a worksheet listing a mixture of
nouns, verbs, and adjectives. The students will then use
highlighters of different colors to identify which word is a noun,
verb, or adjective. After given adequate time to complete the
activity, the teacher will show an answer guide and go over any
questions the students may have. Lastly, the teacher will pass out
a quiz to test the students’ knowledge.

This lesson plan was adapted based on common English standards and
basic grammatical activities we researched online. We decided to use the
projector to display a powerpoint so that the lesson can be easily taught
to all of the students. Due to lack of sophisticated technological
equipment, many of the activities in this lesson are either involving the
powerpoint, or using highlighters and paper. Through our research, we
learned that classroom participation is a big component in successfully
learning English as a second language. In this lesson, we encourage
class participation through an interactive powerpoint, and also allow
collaboration with other students during the activities. Furthermore, we will
be introducing new vocabulary while teaching grammatical basics. The
