Dear Parents
Sharing Assembly
We start our new programme of Sharing Assemblies next week, Friday 18th
September, led by Year 6. The assembly will take place at 9.15am in the school hall as usual. The cake
stall will also open its doors for business next Friday; please may I remind Year 6 that it is their turn to
operate the sale at 3.15pm. Thank you for your support.

Y6 Bikeability
As Y6 parents will be aware that children in Mrs Clark’s class are taking part in
cycle training week commencing 21st September. The hall will be available for overnight bike storage for
any children who wish to leave their bikes at school over the course of the sessions. Any bikes stored
this way must be collected by the pupils each morning and taken to the bike racks outside.
School Online Payment
All parents of children in YR-Y6 will have received a letter this week
detailing how to register for the school’s online payment system. If you choose to pay in this method
please take care to select the correct item/category before proceeding with payment. Parents will be
able to select from nursery, TASC (before and after school care) as well as trips and residential visits.
Y5 & Y6 Computing Workshop 1st October Parents of children in Y5 and Y6 will receive a flyer
tonight inviting them to take part in a forthcoming computer workshop. This is a marvellous opportunity
for parents to support their child’s learning whilst having a lot of fun! Please note that places are
strictly limited and that early booking is essential.
Year 3 Reading Books
Due to an increase in the number of reading books we understand that there
has been a glitch with the reading scheme particularly affecting Year 3 pupils. Mrs Clark has now
resolved this issue. Box numbers do not always signify harder books as some bands go over several
boxes. We apologise for any confusion that may have been caused.
Medicines in School Reminder There are two main sets of circumstances in which requests may be
made to the school to assist with the administering of medicines to pupils during the school day:
 cases of chronic illness or long-term complaints, such as asthma, diabetes or epilepsy
 cases where children recovering from a short-term illness are well enough to return to school but
are receiving a course of antibiotics or other prescribed medicine. Please note: Antibiotics which
are to be administered 3 times a day should be given outside of school hours.
It is preferable that parents (or an adult nominated by the parent) administer medicine to their own
children outside of the school day where possible. However, there are times when this might not be
practicable. In this circumstance a written request must be made for medicine to be administered
to the child in school.
It is the parents’ responsibility:
 to ensure the appropriate form “Request for School to give Medication” be completed
 to hand the completed form to the class teacher for approval
 once approved, to hand the medication to the class teacher, clearly labelled with the owner’s
name, contents and dosage, in the smallest practicable amount. No medicine will be accepted
from a child.
 to collect the medication at the end of the day and to ensure that it is returned to school daily
for the agreed period of administration.
Please note that this is a service which the school is not obliged to undertake and any agreement to
administer medicine by staff will be on a voluntary basis only. Thank you.
Curriculum Booklets The children will have brought a curriculum booklet home with them this week
informing parents of the topics and themes for this term. A copy of the booklet can also be found on
the school website.
School Transport for Pupils Transferring to Bishop Heber For all parents of children who hope to
transfer to Bishop Heber High School in the future, please see an article regarding the bus service for
pupils on tattenhall.org.
Yours faithfully
