Global Networking with symmedia Machines
GF Machining Solutions Gets Ready
for Industry 4.0
GF Machining Solutions, one of the globally leading providers of machines
for mould and tool construction, is now relying on the service solution
symmedia SP/1. In future, every delivered machine is to be equipped with
the service tool. More than 20 service sites around the world are integrated
for this. via automated processes GF Machining Solutions thus implements
savings of process costs while at the same time expanding its offer by a
smart service solution: the symmedia SP/1 service platform contains a
complete remote service and monitoring infrastructure, and can be easily
integrated into the global structures at GF Machining Solutions to reduce
times to reaction when service is needed, to clearly increase machine
availability and competiveness of the customers. Industry visitors can see
the functions for themselves at EMO Milan from 5 to 10 October, hall 9,
stand C06.
From January 2016 onwards, GF Machining Solutions will be linked to all
delivered machines with symmedia SP/1. "The cooperation started with shared
development of the most efficient and slimmest processes for installation,"
explains Andreas Wehmeyer, project manager and Senior Consultant at
symmedia. "Due to the complex service structures and the high number of
machines, simple integration is a central requirement of GF Machining Solutions
to keep the solution user-friendly for the employee." As a consultant, symmedia
supports the entire project from definition of the processes to further development
of the business model, to internal and external marketing.
GF Machining Solutions introduces symmedia SP/1 Remote Service and
symmedia SP/1 Monitoring. Incoming service requests are structured by

connection to the SAP ticket system and organised automatically. Customers will
also find all relevant service data in the customer cockpit and can call them on
their Smartphones. With the digital services of symmedia, GF Machining
Solutions takes a first step towards smart factory of the future and Industry 4.0.
The global networking of the service organisation with the installed machines
synchronises the respective processes and increases efficiency on the provider
and user sides. At EMO Milan, the machine manufacturer shows how it will make
its own service structures ready for Industry 4.0 otherwise as well: A smart spare
parts shop is to be added on in future.
