Position Description
Position Title:
Pro Shop Attendant
Reports to:
Parks & Recreation Manager
Position Description:
Ensure that all golfers adhere to course etiquette and policy;
when not booking tee-offs or checking in golfers, monitor play
at the course, assist in cleaning around the club house area
and golf course and provide other customer services.
Responsibilities:
1.
Answer the telephone and record tee-off bookings.
2.
Work with tournament organizers on scheduling bookings, advising of fees,
required course policies and etiquette, etc.
3.
Register season pass holders and issue daily fee tags.
4.
Rent clubs, pull carts and power carts.
5.
Collect season and daily green fees, power cart trail permit fees, as well as locker
rental fees.
6.
Inform local and visiting golfers in a helpful, clear and concise manner, of
programs, services, local events, golf course rules of etiquette and answer any
questions they may have.
7.
Maintain accurate records which include:
(a)
cash summary report;
(b)
golf course statistics form, which identifies number of rentals and type per
day; daily passes used; annual passes used; weather, etc.;
(c)
membership sign-in page;
(d)
incident and accident reports when required;
(e)
visitor/golfer register and surveys, including weekly summaries; and,
(f)
complaint/concern/suggestion forms, including summary of actions taken

Maintain a neat, clean and professional looking pro shop and starter area, monitor
loitering.
9.
Use quiet times to arrange displays, clean lower section of clubhouse, check
washrooms for proper supplies, wash windows, empty full garbage cans, clean
and remove litter around building, complete paperwork and familiarize self with:
(a)
tourist opportunities in the region and around town;
(b)
pro shop items; and,
(c)
promotional and programming techniques

Maintain bulletin boards in the clubhouse, remove out-dated posters; update
golfers about daily and weekly course activities by using the white board outside
the pro shop.
11.
Monitor all golfing and power cart usage. If any rules, laws or policies are violated,
follow through on the violation and complete the necessary reports. Use
monitoring time to:
(a)
sell beverages and snacks to golfers;
(b)
pick up visible litter and dispose of in garbage cans, emptying garbage cans
into garbage bins; and,
(c)
make notes of signs of course abuse, improper use or other maintenance
related items and report to the golf course maintenance staff
12.
Check rental equipment (clubs, bags, carts, cars, etc.) before and after rental.
Assign fines as required.
13.
Work in a safe manner in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act
and Regulations.
14.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:








Minimum of one (1) year of secondary school education;
Knowledgeable about the game of golf;
Knowledgeable about pro shop items, tourist information, the Liquor License Act,
and the Municipal Alcohol Policy;
Good communication and customer service skills;
Proven decision-making capabilities to handle problems/concerns
efficiently/effectively;
Willing to work weekends and evenings;
Valid standard first aid certificate;
Completion of Smart Serve training program an asset
