Dean of Students
Montessori del Mundo is a public Dual Language Montessori charter school serving just over 200 students
in PreK-3rd grade. The school is located at 15503 B E Mississippi Ave, Aurora CO. Montessori del Mundo
follows the Montessori philosophy and curriculum and uses a research-based dual language model with
the goal of bilingualism and biliteracy for all students. Academic instruction is in both Spanish and English
to prepare students for the bilingual world of the future.
The Dean of Students would be responsible for teaching proactive social emotional/character lessons in
ECE 3 through 3rd grade, responding to discipline issues, and being the school's family liaison. Seventy
percent of the time would be spent leading lessons whole-group in classrooms or pulling small groups, 20
percent of the time would be spent on developing and executing parent events and acting as a family
liaison, and 10 percent of the time would be spent on reactive discipline.
MdM uses conscious discipline and restorative approaches. Experience in either is highly preferred. The
person in this position must be bilingual in Spanish and English.
Job Details:
● Plan and execute weekly Social Emotional Lessons (SEL) in each primary and lower elementary
classroom.
● Maintain and track referral forms, attendance records, and uniform violations.
● Run tier two social emotional intervention groups determined based on repeated behaviors.
● Plan and execute monthly parent events and workshops.
● Lead, develop and track SEL plans for students who need tier-two supports.
● Collaborate with the MTSS team and actively participate in the SIT process.
● Manage community relationships and provide supports to parents who may need it.
● Physical activity including lifting up to 50 lbs., sitting, standing, crouching, walking, occasionally
moving furniture, running school errands.
Qualifications:
● Professional and Academic communication in both Spanish and English
● Strong communication skills in written and spoken Spanish and English
● Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
● Previous teaching in primary and/or lower elementary classrooms
● Passionate about social emotional learning and character development
● Open-minded and person-first approach to working with children and parents
● Experience with restorative practices preferred
● Experience with Conscious Discipline and positive discipline preferred
● Highly organized and detail oriented
● Experience with and passion for working with a diverse group of young children, families, and staff
●
Support in professional development specific to social emotional learning, classroom
management, and culture
● Flexible, able to prioritize in high pressure situations, exceptional communication skills
● Desire to learn and grow as a professional; openness to feedback, collaboration, and compromise
